We had the good fortune of connecting with Amoye Henry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amoye, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a business strategist, investor, and author, my thought process behind starting my own business was multifaceted. First and foremost, I wanted to create something that had a positive impact on the world and helped to break down barriers for underrepresented founders. This desire was what led me to co-found Pitch Better Inc., a market-research firm that supports underrepresented founders in scaling their businesses.

Additionally, I have always been passionate about entrepreneurship and the potential for innovative startups to drive economic growth and create meaningful change. By starting my own business, I was able to apply my expertise in crafting compelling pitches, forging strong brand partnerships, and securing critical investment deals to help other entrepreneurs bring their visions to life.

Finally, as an author, I have a strong desire to share my experiences and insights with others. Starting my own business has given me the opportunity to test out my own theories and strategies in a real-world setting, which I can then distill into actionable advice for others looking to achieve success in the world of entrepreneurship.

Overall, my thought process behind starting my own business was driven by a desire to make a positive impact, apply my expertise in a meaningful way, and share my experiences with others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a business strategist, investor, and author, I have been fortunate to work with a wide range of clients and organizations over the years. Here are a few things that set me apart and make me most proud:

A focus on diversity and inclusion: As the co-founder of Pitch Better Inc., a market research firm that supports underrepresented founders, I am deeply committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. I believe that everyone should have access to the resources and support they need to bring their visions to life, regardless of their background or circumstances.

A track record of success: Over the course of my career, I have secured over $14M in funding for tech entrepreneurs, startups, and innovation-driven organizations, resulting in two successful exits. I am proud of my ability to craft compelling pitches, forge strong brand partnerships, and cement critical investment deals that help businesses to scale and succeed.

A passion for learning and sharing knowledge: As an author and public speaker, I am committed to sharing my experiences and insights with others. I believe that entrepreneurship can be a powerful force for positive change, and I want to help as many people as possible to achieve their goals and create meaningful impact.

Getting to where I am today business-wise has not been easy. I have faced many challenges along the way, from navigating complex business deals to overcoming self-doubt and imposter syndrome. However, I have learned that persistence, resilience, and a willingness to take calculated risks are key to success.

One of the most important lessons I have learned along the way is the importance of building strong relationships. Whether it’s with clients, business partners, or colleagues, having strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect can make all the difference in achieving success.

Overall, I want the world to know that I am passionate about entrepreneurship and committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to pursue their dreams and create positive change in the world, and I am excited to continue working towards that goal in the years to come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sure, if my best friend was visiting London for a week, here’s what I would do:

Day 1: Arrival & Culture

After arriving, we would head to our hotel in central London, drop off our bags and head out for lunch at Dishoom, an Indian restaurant with a great atmosphere and delicious food.
After lunch, we would head to the British Museum to check out some of the world’s greatest treasures and learn about ancient cultures.
In the evening, we would go see a play at Shakespeare’s Globe theatre, an authentic recreation of the original Globe theatre where Shakespeare’s plays were performed.
Day 2: History & Shopping

We would start the day with a visit to the Tower of London to learn about its rich history and see the Crown Jewels.
Next, we would head to Oxford Street, one of the world’s most famous shopping streets, to browse the shops and grab lunch at the iconic department store, Selfridges.
In the evening, we would take a stroll through Soho and check out some of the best bars and restaurants in the city.
Day 3: Art & Music

We would start the day with a visit to the Tate Modern, one of the world’s most famous modern art museums.
After the museum, we would grab lunch at Borough Market, a historic food market filled with some of the best food vendors in the city.
In the evening, we would go see a live music show at the O2 Arena, one of London’s largest music venues.
Day 4: Parks & Palaces

We would start the day with a visit to Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the British monarch.
After the palace, we would head to Hyde Park, one of the largest parks in London, for a picnic and some relaxation time.
In the evening, we would go see a show at the Royal Albert Hall, one of the most iconic music venues in the world.
Day 5: Markets & Museums

We would start the day with a visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum, one of the world’s greatest museums of art and design.
After the museum, we would head to Camden Market, one of the city’s most vibrant markets filled with unique stalls and delicious street food.
In the evening, we would go see a play at the National Theatre, one of the city’s most prestigious theatres.
Day 6: Nature & Nightlife

We would start the day with a visit to Kew Gardens, one of the world’s most famous botanical gardens.
After the gardens, we would head to Shoreditch, one of the city’s trendiest neighborhoods, for lunch and some shopping.
In the evening, we would check out some of the best bars and clubs in the city, such as Fabric or Ministry of Sound.
Day 7: Relaxation & Departure

We would spend the day relaxing and exploring the city at our own pace, perhaps visiting some of the lesser-known attractions or simply taking a walk along the Thames.
In the evening, we would have a farewell dinner at The Ivy, one of London’s most iconic restaurants.
The next day, we would say our goodbyes and head to the airport.
London is a vibrant and exciting city with so much to offer, and this itinerary is just the tip of the iceberg. There are countless other museums, markets, restaurants, and attractions to explore, and I would encourage my friend to come back and visit again to experience even more of what the city has to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! There have been many people, groups, and organizations that have played a crucial role in my success as a business strategist, investor, and author. I would like to dedicate my shoutout to the following individuals and groups:

My business partners: I have been fortunate to work with some amazing business partners throughout my career. These individuals have challenged me to think differently, provided valuable feedback and support, and have helped me to navigate the complex world of entrepreneurship.

The entrepreneurial community: The entrepreneurial community has been an incredible source of inspiration and support for me. From attending conferences and networking events, to participating in mentorship programs and accelerators, I have been fortunate to connect with many talented and passionate entrepreneurs who have helped me to grow and succeed.

The books I’ve read: I have been an avid reader my entire life, and many of the books I have read have had a profound impact on my thinking and my approach to business. Some of the books that have been particularly influential for me include “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe, “The Lean Startup” by Eric Ries, “Atomic Habits” by James Clear, “Good to Great” by Jim Collins, and “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho.
