We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonatta Harmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonatta, how do you think about risk?
I look at risks just as I view decisions. The thing that lies between us and the risks or decisions we encounter are the choices we make. Once we make a choice, it leads us to either desirable or undesirable outcomes but we still have the power to change. Risks take faith. They take you owning your authority and standing surefooted no matter what happens. If we don’t take risks we assume that the other side of what we’re looking forward to and/or facing is not worth fighting for (or taking the leap of faith for).

In my life and career, I’ve been faced with challenges, obstacles, and both desirable and undesirable outcomes. However, I have learned that taking risks would be inevitable if I’m going to live the life that God destined for me. It was so important that I learned early on to look at risks properly, how to make calculated ones, and then be fearless in continuing through to success with no apologies. I’ve also learned the power we have in taking risks, how to count the costs, and how to have resilience through it all. I am blessed to be a mother, serial entrepreneur, author, minister, and above all loved by God. All of those roles take risks, if I hadn’t invested in taking them day by day, I would not be the woman I am today. So, my encouragement to you is with God’s direction, TAKE THE RISK!

What should our readers know about your business?
Kingdom Assistance – Branding + Web Design is a branding agency that was established in 2019 and has been going strong ever since! We are a woman-owned, minority-owned agency that operates virtually. Our home base is in North Carolina, but we’ve been honored to serve clients as far as the United Kingdom (UK). Our agency helps busy, purpose-driven entrepreneurs create brands that tell their story, captivate their audience, and let their light shine.

We are also a faith-based agency and we allow God to be creative through us. We don’t make a decision in the business without His direction. His direction is the foundation of our business model.

As the CEO, I’ve had extensive training in being a business owner, yet I did not go to school specifically for design. I’ve obtained my Bachelor of Science degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and then went on to work for the public sector. I have been through many pieces of training and certification courses to prepare me for entrepreneurship, including a certification in Human Resources from Duke University. Plus, I have been through various private training in branding and design. Although I’ve used these valuable tools and training, life experiences have certainly prepared me the most.

Starting the agency was easy, but the processes that continually come with building a long-lasting business are not. It’s worth every trial and challenge though. When dealing with them, I have to take a step away from the challenges to see what the message is (that God is teaching me) and then regroup to properly learn and grow from them. We actually started out as a coaching firm, mixed with a branding agency. However, God gave me the revelation that what I was doing was solely helping people and businesses build their brands. So, the business structure changed and now we’re here almost at our two-year birthday as a successful branding agency.

Overall, I’ve learned that being the CEO is more about stewarding the people and gifts God entrusts you with well. I’ve also learned how to give grace to those who serve along with me. I once was where they are so I give them room to learn and grow. I want the world and all who come across my brand to know that we visually bring stories to life — creating Branding Masterpieces.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love my city! It’s a really thriving city in the ENC and there are lots of local shops and good eats. First, I would take my bestie to check in at the Hilton. They have the best hospitality in the city! Then, we’d go for a Starbucks treat and wind down for the next day. Day two would be all about dining and shopping. We’d do brunch at The Rickhouse, then hit a few local shops in the uptown area. Day three, we’d visit the Town Common area and go for a walk to see some of the histories of the City. From there, we’d go get some good food from Bad Daddy’s Burgers and relax for the day. On the last day, we’d invest in some R&R by getting mani’s, pedi’s, and massages at Merle Norman before my bestie heads to catch her flight out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
