We had the good fortune of connecting with Keturah Rosato and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keturah, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks has always in some ways been part of my journey and because of this, there are some risks in life that I did not have the comfort of avoiding. Whether it was coming to this country as a sixteen-year-old to start a new life without my parents or deciding to quit my stable job to pursue an entrepreneurial journey that made me feel alive, I have always found myself between taking the known path or choosing the unknown.
What should our readers know about your business?
When I finally made the decision to register an LLC, that was such a breakthrough moment for me. I did not know what the next steps were, but I knew that if any new insights would come to me, it would require me to take that first step. I got my licenses in the mail and then, reality settled in. A piece of paper in my hand meant now it was time to get to work. I think that’s the part that trips people up and causes them to lose steam. There’s the surreal feeling of course, where you get over your fears, take the step, then you kinda settle there for a little bit and say to yourself, “wow, I did that” and then the next mountain or challenge comes, and all of a sudden you forget that what it took to get to that second mountain was a mountain of lesser proportion.
I started with an LLC called Social Recharge, LLC, and I knew what I wanted to fuse my professional acumen as a therapist with the life coaching model to give a more robust experience to women who are dealing with the mental and emotional barriers that keep them from unleashing their potential. But the name of my business did not translate well, It was a cool name, but people would always ask “what is The Social Recharge?
For a while, I struggled because I did not want to let the name go because of the meaning it had to me. But I learned in the process that I am not in business for me, and if I wanted women who needed guidance, support, and strategy on how to confidently make the life and career shifts that would help them transcend limitations, I needed to make it easy for them to find me. So I rebranded and named my services under The Momentum Woman Society. And everything changed.
Before the rebrand, my efforts felt like I was pushing a wheelbarrow uphill, but once I changed the name – easy peasy. So lesson learned, 1. clever ideas are great, but useless if they don’t clearly translate your intentions and 2. make it easy for your customer to find you and know what problem you solve for them.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am quite an extrovert, in fact, on the Myers-Briggs, I scored 91% extrovert last time I took the assessment, BUT, I am learning to appreciate tranquility and eco-based entertainment. So, if I had a friend over for the weekend, my focus would be on quality time. I would cook at home, because I know they would want a taste of my island cuisine (you can’t find that anywhere else), and we would spend time on the lake nearby my house, riding our quads through the woods, and horseback riding, or should I say learning how to ride a horse, plus all the photos we would take for the gram at the local You-Pick Farms nearby- our schedule would be so full, there would be no time to hang out in the city.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be here without the support of my husband and five children who always cheer me on no matter how crazy or inconveniencing my ideas may seem to be at the time of conception, but I don’t think I would ever take the step into pursuing life as an entrepreneur without the inspiration of my coach Hanna Fitz. It was her example influence and mentorship that first sparked my confidence in being able to explore a life outside of the role of working for someone else.
