We had the good fortune of connecting with Tunishia Dickerson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tunishia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
My vision for myself includes me operating four successfully function companies that promote better living and life enhancement and development, under one Parent Company, Butterfly Changes, LLC. There will be 3 for profit and 1 non profit organization working simultaneously to improve the lives of others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career started in Customer Service in fast food and sit down restaurants and retail stores. I learned early on that the customer is right, regardless of who your customer is. That’s the fundament of any business and something I have lived by in my career and in any organization I have supported throughout.

However, after working hard to obtain my Accounting Degree, I found myself working at yet another restaurant to support my family of two small kids at the time. But I made the most of it. Fortunate for me, the cafeteria was in the corporate office of a major retail company and with my degree and the ability to make connections I was able to secure a PT job there after a year of working in the cafeteria. Once in the corporate environment, I used my principles of customer service and added them to HR concepts that I was learning and quickly became the HR Go To for questions that needed to be answered…which I believe differentiated me most of my career as I climbed the corporate ladder. I applaud myself on the growth I have achieved over the past 17 years as I worked myself up from the cashier in the cafeteria to the HR Director in the office. It took hard work, dedication, long nights, tears, failures, success, & triumphs. I am a GREAT Corporate Employee. I am made for it.

But I was tired of it. I was tired of making other people’s companies great and decided to put that energy into make my own Great as well. I am taking all the business, customer service, HR Skills and Knowledge I’ve acquired over the years to do so. It’s Time to Be My Own Boss.

I want the world to know that Butterfly Changes, LLC are real and it starts with a mindset and me and my organizations will be working to change those for the better.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was coming in from town, we would definitely have to do the stuff that you can Only Do In Atlanta! as we well as take some down time to come down from the turn up and to Enjoy and Appreciate My City.

We would stay at the Omni Hotel Downtown, so that we can have a city view of Centennial Park, the Ferris Wheel, and so much More. The Skyline from there is beautiful!

Monday – Because I have never been before (I feel horrible as a native Atlantan), but we would go to Magic City to see what the hype is about for Magic City Mondays…I mean how turnt can it be on a Monday??

Tuesday – We would eat steak and anything else I heart desires at Marcel’s Steak House and go play a game or two at Ormesby’s underneath it. It’s a really cool vibe in there.

Wednesday – Selfie Museum – What’s a day without self love?

Thursday – Piedmont Park, Picnic & Bike Ride – It’s cool that you can rent bikes and skates from Skate Escape as needed…they even have a tandem bike

Friday – Stay near the hotel and go on a Ferris Wheel Ride, walk through and around Centennial Park and the surrounding area

Saturday – Bingo Night @ neighboring Lodge – who doesn’t like Bingo?

Sunday – Somebody’s day party (there are so many around the city) …so we can be in bed at a decent hour after this past week, I’m sure we’d be tired. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story started over a year and a half ago, when I was car jacked one morning in 2019 on my way to wok. And while the robber didn’t get my car, he did get my purse and my laptop. Inside my purse was a personal hygiene kit I had created for myself to freshen up throughout the day. As an HR Representative, there is a certain appearance you have to maintain as the “face” of the company. So without my kit, I felt lost throughout the day as I went to my new purse to grab it to no avail.

Which led me to create a hygiene (high-gyiene) kit for smokers that includes tools needed for both the smoke session and the clean up afterwards, made specifically for people that like to smoke but hate to look and smell like it, for people that can’t afford to be looking and smelling like it public and for anyone who cares about their image throughout the day. It is geared to promote High Maintenance Behavior, in regards to paying attention to the details of self-care.

So I applied for a patent of my kit, spent $3K of my limited savings to buy the product needed to create MJ’s Bag, LLC , and secured a vendor table a 420 Festival all by Februay 2020 in attempts to see how my idea would be accepted in the 1st Legalized Cannabis state. All while reading daily spiritual devotions on Facebook every – something new I started on Day 1 of 2020 as an act of Obedience to God. I read from the Daily Devotional for the Women of Color (by multiple authors) and The Daily Devotion for the Courageous Woman (Joyce Meyer). So when all my plans for being in Denver, Colorado to actually sell a creation that had been a vision just a few months ago, fell through due to COVID, I had my had my faith and strength that I was getting from those daily devotions to get me through, because I felt like my investment had been a loss before it could even get started. And while the Daily Devotions for the Woman of Color helped me, the Daily Devotions for the Courageous Woman and reading it in front of my friends and family on Facebook, Changed Me from the INSIDE OUT.

The readings helped me to get more comfortable in front of the camera, more comfortable in speaking my mind, more comfortable in my presentation, more comfortable in my skin, more comfortable in my Faith in God, more comfortable in my strength and power to do anything I put my mind and abilities to, just as God designed them to do, when he commanded me to read them at the end of 2019. And ultimately, they motivated me to become the businesswoman I am today forging my own companies to help people transform from the inside out with small practices of betterment and care of self.

I have been able to walk away from anything that causes unnecessary and undue stress and focus on what makes me happy, which includes cultivating my businesses to be 4 highly successfully functioning companies under one Parent Company, :-); including my main business of operation at the time, MJ’s Bag, LLC.

So I guess credit should go to the robber that planted the seed of the need of the hygiene bags and to Joyce Meyer’s Devotions of Courage that helped me to make the seed grow and continue to do so.
