We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, what matters most to you?
My entire business is centered around the principle of love. I feel when you do things out of love they turn out so much better. Love should be the motivating factor behind each decision someone makes in their life whether professionally, romantically, or within friendships. Using a love principle helps make sure you’re doing everything for the right reason. Self-love should be at the forefront of every decision. Self-love helps you make decisions with your well-being at the forefront – how will this decision affect you, how can your decision help someone else, or what is driving you to make this decision? If you can master self-love all of the other love principles (family, friends, professional) will fall into place.
What should our readers know about your business?
L.O.V.E. stands for Lasting Openness that Vibrates Effortlessly. This name symbolizes an effortless process done through a love of you prioritizing your mental health. Embracing your mental health triumphs and struggles requires an openness that at first will not come effortlessly, but can be developed through guidance and encouragement.
L.O.V.E. utilizes various approaches to assist their clients with prioritizing their mental health. Services offered are individual counseling sessions, mental health workshops for all ages, and providing mental health insight as panelist or speaker. L.O.V.E. specializes in assisting people through life transitions especially teens and young adults. Life transitions can often cause us to feel like we have a mental health disorder, but sometimes we just need to process what’s going on with an outside source.
L.O.V.E. is most known for Tea with Danielle – my Instagram page. Many people think my business is called Tea with Danielle, but it’s actually the community engagement piece of L.O.V.E. LLC. Through my Instagram, I post daily mental health tips, encouragement, infographics, etc. to make mental health more relatable to a larger group of people. Through Tea with Danielle people are able to see they are not alone with their feelings, and that literally everything can be tied back to mental health. There is so much more to mental health than depression and anxiety, and my Instagram shows people in an inviting way.
It definitely has not been a smooth road getting L.O.V.E. LLC started. Figuring out the direction of my business is probably what took me the longest. I knew I didn’t want to be a therapist for the rest of my life, but I also knew I loved talking about mental health and giving information to others. In order to provide therapy, I had to complete the paperwork to become fully licensed – which ended up taking me four months instead of two months. This almost got me discouraged, but then I realized I needed the extra time to get other areas of my business developed. Every day is a learning experience when having a private practice, dealing with insurance, learning new Software, etc. Also getting used to going out of my comfort zone when it came to social media was a struggle for me. I honestly do not like the sound of my voice, so making videos on Instagram was such a struggle in the beginning, but I had to just get over it and do it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My top favorite places to eat in the city are Two Urban Licks, BQE, Atlanta Breakfast Club, Jeni’s, Nana’s Chicken and Waffles, and The Optimist.
My top favorite places for sightseeing/shopping are Krog Street Market, Little Five Points, Ponce City Market and The Old Fourth Ward.
My top favorite places for outdoor activities are The Bamboo Forest, Arabia Mountain, Oakhurst Dog Park, and Stone Mountain. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
L.O.V.E. LLC would not be here today without my wonderful husband, Brian Alexander! I always knew I wanted to have my own business, but I was too afraid to take the leap and start the process. Brian motivated me to look into what I needed to start the business and just go for it! Brian helped me understand the importance of starting a business and how it would help us in the long run. Every step of L.O.V.E.’s progress has Brian’s hand in it – creating the social media page, applying for speaking engagement, and figuring out different growth opportunities. Brian helps me plan out social media content, gives me motivation when I get burnt out, and is always a listening ear. I cannot thank Brian enough for unconditional support and love, without him my business wouldn’t be what it is today.
