Meet Francis Baker | Content Creator & Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Francis Baker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Francis, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
A lot of people don’t have respect for influencers, but it’s because they don’t understand the amount of work that goes into the content you see on social media. On top of managing a full-time job, most of us are acting as stylists, models, editors, photographers, creative directors, videographers, journalists, and the list goes on.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is that I’m willing to share my highs and lows with my audience. I use social media as a way to document my life story. To be authentic, I try to share those things about myself that most people may hide. The goal is to make people feel like they’re not alone if they’re experiencing something similar. I’m most proud of my progress. I started by posting pictures of flat lay outfits. It’s crazy that now my favorite brands are paying me to model outfits for them. I got to where I am today through dedication. Whenever I had free time, I would spend it shooting or researching ways to improve my craft. It definitely hasn’t been, especially balancing a full-time job. However, those challenges haven’t been too hard to overcome but creating content doesn’t feel like work. Along the way, I’ve learned to trust myself. A lot of people have given me unsolicited advice on how to achieve my goals. Those same people are now asking me how I got to where I am today. I want people to know that my story is an example that you can have or achieve anything. You just have to be willing to take risks and put in the work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d probably tell them to ask someone else. Sadly, I haven’t had a chance to really explore Atlanta with COVID. If the weather is nice, Piedmont Park is definitely a must. Lenox and Atlantic Station are my go-to for shopping. Colony Square is another great place to hang out, plus the staff is amazing. I haven’t eaten out much since moving to Atlanta. Supriningly I’ve been cooking a lot more. When I do feel like eating out, Slim & Husky’s is a go-to. The fact that it’s black-owned makes it even better.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this to my best friend, Quintin. He helped me move to Atlanta, and since then my career as a content creator has taken off. He’s stood by my side through all my highs and lows. So this is dedicated to him!
