We had the good fortune of connecting with Deja’ McNeal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deja’, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At an early age, I knew that I always wanted to care for people and build a community built on trust and creativity. After completing my Master of Social Work and Specialization in Community Partnership Degree from Georgia State University in the Spring of 2019. I took a leap of faith and applied for my business license in February 2020, and Omni Minds, LLC, was created. Omni Minds started as a consulting business, but during the Covid-19 pandemic, I decided to lean more into my creativity, and my life coaching business was born. My company offers holistic life coaching that helps Gen Zers and Millennials find and master their purpose. I offer a variety of life coaching services that will nurture your spirit, help you overcome personal challenges that will allow you to achieve your individual life goals. Along with my life coaching business, I also create lifestyle content as a natural hair influencer.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Omni Minds LLC is an innovative life coaching business that helps Millennials and Gen Zers find and master their purpose. My coaching services vary from goal setting, understanding personal and professional values, overcoming fear, and various self-assessments. Any challenge that a client may face, we will work collaboratively to co-create an action plan. With my life coaching services, each coachee receives accountability, open space to share their emotions, and interactive activities. I am excited to work with individuals to help them unlock their potential through meaningful and authentic conversations. My coachees can communicate with me through text, video chat, and messaging software.
My work experience has helped me refine my skills and learn how to share effectively with others. While I received my master of social work degree, I worked with first-generation college students in an extended learning community to develop their education and life skills. Currently, I am a virtual college coach to over 120 college students across the country. Coaching and mentoring young people has given me the blueprint for helping people create the life they want to live. As an entrepreneur, I had to overcome self-doubt. Imposter syndrome is real, and it can look different for everyone. When I started my business, I was nervous about how I showed up in the coaching space. I had to learn how to own my gifts and talents. Along the way, I realized that I am worthy of any room, virtually or physically, that I enter. I am confident in my skill set, and I will continue to use my voice and coaching skills to help people prosper.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is such a beautiful city with so many hidden gems. I love that Atlanta and the surrounding metropolitan areas have so many different neighborhoods with unique foods and cultures. I love outdoor activities, so I would invite my friend to visit the historic Old Fourth Ward community, take a stroll on the eastside trail at the BeltLine and take a tour down the historic Auburn Avenue. To get a feel for Atlanta’s historical imprint, we would visit the Apex Museum, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Hammond’s House Museum, and the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. Lastly, we would explore the delicious plant-based foods that the city of Atlanta and surrounding cities have to offer. Some of these restaurants include Slutty Vegan, Green Soma Cafe, CO Atlanta, Plant Based Pizzeria, Nut Cafe, Tassili’s Raw Reality Cafe, and Cultivate Food and Coffee.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe that everyone has an individual, community, or personal story that has inspired them along their life journey. My husband is continually inspiring and encouraging me to push forward even when times are tough. He challenges me to keep striving even when I want to give up. I am so inspired by his work ethic and faith in God. His core values are the key reasons for his success, and those values are now a part of my story. He continuously reminds me of my worth and assures me that God created me for a specific purpose. I want to honor him for his effortless love, accountability, and leadership. All of these things have transformed me into the person I am today.
