We had the good fortune of connecting with Rell Ellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rell, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Consistency is the key. You have to remain consistent in your message. You shouldn’t be all over the board trying to find something that will just make you money. Find a message that speaks directly to your audience and stick to it. That’s where you have to get creative in finding different ways to get your point across.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Its definitely been a long bumpy journey filled with ups and downs. The biggest struggle for me has always been being a one man show. From the start, I’ve handled every aspect of this brand by myself. From the graphic designs, designing the website, researching the garments, marketing, production and order fulfillment. The fact that I actually screenprint every garment myself is nuts, but I’m a control freak so… This year though, I’ll be loosening the reigns a little bit and doing more outsourcing as well as bringing in some help. That’ll clear up some time for me to focus on growing the brand more.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite place to hang is in the Castleberry Hills area. We’d hit everything from Escobar, to Spin, cigars at Fellaship. Maybe Magic City or Follies for some entertainment.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family. I have a strong support system right in my own home. My lovely wife and children not only believe in me but they believe in my vision for this brand as well.
