What makes you happy?

Happiness is everything. Where there is happiness, everything else is possible and so we asked the community to tell us what makes them happy.

Connection makes me happy. Connection with myself, my family, friends, and my community. The small moments of living life, like smiling at someone I walk past and having them smile back, talking with the cashier at the grocery store, and/or seeing something beautiful in nature, brings me joy. Creating is where I find my truest happiness. Ever since I was a child, I have been writing songs, though I didn’t fully realize back then just how much pure joy it brought me. In middle school, that passion expanded when I wrote a short play called The Wilting Flowers. Read more>>

Helping people makes me the most happiness. I have always been considered a caretaker or giver throughout my careers as a soldier and teacher. I think this was breed from my upbringing. I am the oldest son (of four boys, born in order) and have two older half sisters (their father passed away before my second sister was born). Read more>>

The people in my life make me the happiest. It sounds corny but if you ask anyone that’s really in my life they’ll tell you how much I value community. It’s probably one of the most important pillars of life and I feel like we forget that a lot. I could be with my people almost everyday. Read more>>

What makes me happy is creating stories, visuals, and experiences that bring people together. As a director, producer, and entrepreneur, I have the opportunity to turn ideas into meaningful moments that inspire, entertain, and connect people from different backgrounds and walks of life. What makes me happy is the ability to give. I’ve been serving small business owners, executives, and corporations long enough to understand that showing up visibly and confidently is hard, and sometimes depleting. When someone comes to me for a photography experience, I want them to feel poured into. Unlike most photographers, I don’t just show up with a camera. Read more>>

Though I’m a sucker for my daily rituals, I’m happiest when I step outside of routine. I do this in small ways, by stopping to notice the world around me and figuring how I can take a new path forward.
