Meet Yussif | Visual Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yussif and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yussif, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Before starting my business, I was thinking about purpose and growth. I wanted to create art that represents me, my culture, and my creativity. I also wanted the freedom of building something that truly belongs to me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a fusion of culture, emotion, and imagination. I combine abstract concepts with African and anime-inspired elements to create pieces that feel vibrant, modern, and deeply personal. What sets me apart is the way I blend traditional Ghanaian influences with bold, expressive colors it’s like telling stories through shapes, patterns, and movement.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come. I didn’t start with much, and the journey wasn’t easy at all. I had moments when I doubted myself, moments when resources were limited, and times when I felt like no one understood my vision. But what kept me going was passion. Art is my voice, and every stroke helped me overcome fear and find confidence.
Professionally, I got to where I am today by being consistent, open to learning, and never giving up. I taught myself many things along the way — how to improve my technique, how to promote my work, and how to build a brand even when I was still figuring myself out. Every challenge taught me something. I learned patience, creativity, and how to turn pressure into motivation.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is simple: my art is more than just visuals — it’s a story. It represents culture, identity, and the beauty of standing out. I want people to feel something when they look at my work. I want them to see the colors of Ghana, the imagination of a dreamer, and the spirit of a young artist who is determined to grow. This is just the beginning for me, and I’m excited to take my art to even bigger places.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend visited, I’d show them the parts of Tamale I love most — the cultural centre, the local markets, and my favorite spots to relax and enjoy northern dishes like TZ and ayoyo. I haven’t traveled outside Tamale yet, but I’d still make sure they experience the warmth, culture, and everyday beauty of the North the way I see it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to recognize my family, my art community, and everyone who has supported my creative journey—whether through mentorship, encouragement, or simply engaging with my work. Their support has shaped the artist and entrepreneur I’m becoming
