We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Every new business venture comes with risk. When I first considered starting my own business, I heard that little voice whispering, “What if I fail?” But I chose not to let the fear of failure, or the leap itself, hold me back. Because here’s the truth: if you never start, you’ve already failed. And if you do stumble, you walk away with valuable lessons you wouldn’t have gained otherwise. Risk isn’t something to fear. It’s the foundation of growth. In fact, I believe it’s essential to becoming a successful entrepreneur. The more risks you take, the more opportunities you create for yourself. Years later, my photography business is thriving and continuing to grow. Looking back, I’m so grateful I took that first risk. It changed everything.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I take a creative approach to photography, focusing on how color, composition, and lighting can reflect each client’s unique style. No two people are alike, and I love switching things up to make every session feel fresh and personal.

My journey with photography began when I worked at a tech store during my studies. My managers taught me camera techniques, and before long I was teaching others the same. Afterwards, I moved into the corporate world, where my photo skills were often put to use. But over time, I realized I wanted something more. I wanted the freedom to build a business of my own, to work with people who truly valued my creative vision, and to grow without someone hovering over me who didn’t understand the craft.

Becoming an entrepreneur hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been the most rewarding decision of my life. It’s given me the chance to grow not just as a photographer, but as a person. Most importantly, it’s allowed me to follow what I’m most passionate about: documenting and preserving life’s most precious moments.

My goal with every session is to tell your story in a way that makes you light up, capturing moments no one else could because they are uniquely yours.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, the first thing I would do is take her to all of my favorite restaurants. There are so many amazing spots here that it is impossible to mention just a few haha! I even wrote a whole blog post about it because the food scene here is one of my absolute favorite parts of living on Tybee. After eating our way around town, we would spend the day at the beach, as we should. We might stop by the Tybee Island Marine Science Center or rent jet skis from Tybee Island Watersports for a little adventure. But honestly, what I love most about Tybee, besides the gorgeous beach, is the people. The locals are so kind and welcoming, and I feel so grateful to be part of this community.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this Shoutout to my friends who are always so supportive and uplifting. I appreciate them so much!
