Meet Rustin Yasavolian

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rustin Yasavolian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rustin, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
That life and business have their seasons. Some days are like a beautiful spring afternoon where everything is perfect, some days are consists of thunderstorms, and some days might just be overcast. Its understanding that everything will pass, both the good times and the bad. Slow down and enjoy the good times. Take in the fruits of your labor. Understand that the bad times are not forever. Be thankful for difficult times because it builds strong will.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My family started Masina in 1984 when my parents first came to Atlanta. Fun fact, we’ve been in the same showroom ever since. Today, have been voted the best jewelry store in Atlanta. What separates us is our emphasis on custom design fine jewelry. It’s one of the things I love about what we do; give our consultants and clients creative freedom. The custom design process helps us connect with our clients on a deeper level, creating pieces that represent them not just something picked out of a showcase. Our consultants and designers really take pride in their work and it reflects in Masina’s reputation and customer service.
I got to where I am today only by the support of a strong team that is constantly evolving. Every team member holds the vision of creating beautiful one of a kind pieces. We push industry norms and designs, without compromising quality or integrity. I believe in pushing our team members out of their comfort zone, because once they begin to grow, the company grows as a whole.
Of course the of process of growth is never an easy one. There are always constant hurdles and small fires to put out. Being resilient and keeping a level head has helped me get through it all. I’ve received a lot of rejection in my career. But, all those “no’s” have helped me grow and refine my approach to turn the next opportunity into a “yes.”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A couple must hit spots for me would definitely be the beltline for a long walk on a nice day; stopping by different spots for a quick drink. If it’s in season, an Atlanta united game at Mercedez Benz is always a must. The atmosphere and sheer size of the stadium is something that needs to be experienced. My go to dinner spots would be Rumi’s Kitchen or Delbar. Both spots have amazing food and great ambiance. Some other spots I recommend for a cultural experience would be East Atlanta, hitting spots like Gaja or Banshee. A lounge day at piedmont park is always a good idea. Its one of the best spots to soak up the sun and enjoy the weather.
Wednesday nights you can catch me at silverbacks park. Great place to kick the soccer ball around, have a drink and watch teams play

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My main shoutout is to my closest friends, family, and fiance (soon to be wife). The people you surround yourself with will dictate your life. I’m lucky to be surrounded by a motivated and successful friend group. We share ideas, debate topics, and just help each other grow in all aspects of life. My family has always stood behind me and kept me motivated through the toughest decisions. Lastly, my fiance. Behind every strong man is a woman. She’s been one of my biggest motivators and believer while still challenging me. She helps me approach issues from a different angle. She’s also helped me slow down and build a better work life balance to enjoy life as whole.
