Meet Jamiya Flowers | Jamiya Flowers “Fuel Your Hustle”

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamiya Flowers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamiya, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I believe parenting is a continuous cycle that should grow stronger with each generation. With every new phase, we gain more wisdom, perspective, and clarity; not just about life, but about how our own upbringing shaped us. I’ve become more intentional in recognizing what I lacked or needed as a child, and I try to give my children what I wish I had, while also teaching them to build upon what I was able to give. To me, the most important thing I’ve done as a parent is focus on strengthening our generational foundation. I want my children to be wiser, more determined, more ambitious, more patient, and more passionate than I am. My hope is that, in turn, they will raise their children to grow even further. You can’t evolve if you repeat the same mindset and patterns. Where I fall short, I want them to rise. Whether it’s in wisdom, health, or wealth, my goal is to plant deeper, stronger roots so each generation is not just surviving, but thriving.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the proud owner of Now Top That!, a business designed to help small businesses in the baking and event planning world shine. Whether you’re in need of edible images to elevate your cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and other custom treats or you’re looking for custom packaging/displays, stickers, or crafts to give your products that extra razzle dazzle, I’ve got you covered. I want to help you create that “wow factor” for your customers, whether it’s for an event or just a special treat. My motto? “Help me help you!” I want to know: What do you need to accomplish your goal and keep your customers smiling? Whether it’s something small like personalized edible prints or a full custom party experience, I’m here to make it happen!
Alongside my 8-year-old son, I also co-own Bernie Bear’s Event Rentals. It all started after planning my son’s two-year-old birthday party. The rental places in my area only had adult-sized tables and chairs, which obviously wouldn’t work for toddlers. I couldn’t be the only parent facing this issue, and I was determined to create a solution. So, I launched Bernie Bear’s Event Rentals, offering mainly tables and chairs specifically for kids. My son, Bernard (aka Bernie or “IV” in our family), was only 3 years old when we started the business. Even at that age, he understood what it meant to work hard and be an entrepreneur. He loved meeting our customers and getting involved and sometimes even joining in the fun!
It’s incredible to watch him learn about entrepreneurship, and I’m thrilled to show him how we can create our own path, work together, and build something meaningful. Bernie Bear’s Event Rentals, paired with Now Top That!, is all about making special occasions easier and more memorable for families.
Was it easy to start? Honestly, yes! I wanted the creative freedom, the ability to work on my own terms, and the chance to show my son that you can follow your passions while building a career. But it hasn’t been without its challenges. The biggest lesson I’ve learned on this journey is: FUEL YOUR HUSTLE.
What does that mean? It’s simple: you have to give your passion energy to make it thrive. For me, that energy comes from listening to podcasts, hearing others’ stories, and seeing how they push through challenges. I’ve never heard anyone say, “It was easy, I just showed up.” Most successful people share a common thread: they poured everything they had into their hustle. Their journey isn’t a straight line, and it’s never really “over.” The hustle lives on, powered by the energy you pour into it.
If I can offer any advice from my journey, it’s this: your hustle needs fuel. Keep fueling your passion, adapt along the way, and never be afraid to revamp your approach. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. And remember, it’s a journey so enjoy the ride!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely spend the majority of our time in Atlanta, there’s just so much to do and explore! From there, we’d eventually make our way down to South Georgia to visit Warner Robins, and then continue on to the beautiful city of Savannah. At this stage in my life, early 40s, married with two kids, I find myself drawn to experiences that revolve around great food, rich culture, meaningful history, and the charm of small-town vibes. So naturally, my itinerary would reflect all of those things!
Atlanta – Big City Energy with Southern Soul
Our trip would definitely start in Atlanta, where there’s always something going on.
Brunch spots? You’ll find us at South City Kitchen, Poor Calvin’s, or Egg Harbor Cafe! Each with their own unique twist on breakfast favorites.
Dinner will be all about seafood and food halls. Ponce City Market is a must for variety and vibes!
We’ll be exploring the Atlanta BeltLine, taking in some history and culture at The King Center, The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and maybe even catching a show at The Fox Theatre.
As for nightlife, we’re going wherever the mature, grown-folks crowd is hanging out. Good music, good drinks, good energy!
Warner Robins – Small Town Charm
Next stop: Warner Robins where things slow down just enough to really take it all in.
We’ll eat our way through some local mom & pop restaurants and sit down for a nice dinner at Oliver Perry’s.
And yes, there will be a dessert crawl! Because why not?
A visit to the Museum of Aviation is a must it’s one of the best hidden gems in Georgia.
Savannah – Coastal Beauty & Historic Charm
To wrap up our trip, we’re heading to Savannah, where the charm is unmatched.
The Collins Quarter is a top pick for a fresh take on Southern brunch, and The Crab Shack is perfect for cracking shells with a view. But let’s be real the highlight here is The Beach. We’re spending a full day on Tybee Island and maybe even making a day trip to Hilton Head for more sun and sand.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! SHOUTOUT to a previous employer who told me they didn’t want to “set me up for failure” when an opportunity for growth was presented ahh thank you for showing me exactly what gatekeeping looks like.
SHOUTOUT to the recruiting firm that, on my third interview when I finally wore my natural, beautiful hair suddenly decided I wasn’t a “cultural fit” … yet somehow, I was when my hair was straight for the first two interviews.
SHOUTOUT to the employer who had me print and distribute promotion letters for everyone but me while I remained the lowest-paid employee in the department.
SHOUTOUT to the leader who turned my ideas into our ideas. That’s right ours, huh?
But most of all, SHOUTOUT to anyone who may have thought they were chipping away at my confidence or potential. In reality, you were helping me piece together my perseverance, my work ethic, my self-worth, and my purpose. You weren’t breaking me you were building me.
I always say: you can’t spell inability without ability.
