Art has always been an outlet in my life growing up. It is the best way for me to express emotions and how I feel so as an adult, instead of a paint brush, I use a makeup brush. It is what has always made sense to me. Growing up, I was intrigued by anything artistic, and my love for creating grew to nearly an obsession. In elementary school, I was constantly studying my “how to draw” books from dragons to anime; it didn’t matter what I was drawing, it was all wonderful to me. Now, I try to hang onto that innocent pursuit of creation. Not relying on some grand language to explain away the many reasons I do this. As far back as I can remember I was able to do things vocally most my age & older could not. It was the same with my writing, dancing & acting abilities. Naturally, what comes most easiest to us we pursue. I knew early on anything I do for money would be a job or gig work until I was able to subsidize my living from my career in entertainment. I think a lot about core memories — the ones that shape us quietly before we even understand they matter. For me, it started with a closet at home filled with DVDs and cassettes. I was the self-appointed movie picker for my family. Creativity through music has been a passion of mine throughout my entire life. I was raised in the church, & so worship services were a regular part of my routine. I remember listening to my favorite songs in my room as a kid, and I think those moments really awakened my heart to the fact that music would be my future. Read More>>
