We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Marosek and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, what principle do you value most?
Growth is the value that matters the most to me. With every experience comes new ideas and new perspectives, and if you choose to take those experiences to their full advantage it can really develop your skills, your mind… and really just your whole life. When I first started my photography journey, I was a 10-year-old with a little canon point-and-shoot. I started reading books and watching YouTube videos about photography and cameras and editing softwares. In 2014 I started shooting with my baby DSLR Nikon D3300, and could only afford a used 50mm lens that only had manual focus. I learned everything I could about that camera, and it wasn’t long before friends and family started asking for me to help them photograph their headshots for auditions or professional profiles. Before I knew it, Emma Rose Photography grew out of the ground and I got to mesh my love for learning new things, working with others, and being creative into a business. Growth. I am more passionate, more skilled, and more excited for the future because every moment is a learning opportunity. I can’t wait to continue in my path and grow as a photographer and as a person. The sky’s the limit!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is all about storytelling and seeing the beauty in people. My personal story impacts this art. I struggle with Bipolar Disorder and it changes my moods in a matter of seconds. It keeps me awake for days on end. It keeps my head spinning for hours and it puts me to bed for weeks. My story has made me realize that you truly never know what someone is going through. People are more than what they portray on the outside. I strive to capture more than the external in my photographs. It was not easy to get to where I am today. I struggled to grow as a photographer for a while…stuck in a lull and a depression, until I met Jave. Jave is a passionate, talented photographer and videographer. He took me under his wing and gave me opportunities to branch out of portraits and into event and wedding photography. He pushed me to develop my talents, a gift that I will never be able to repay. What I want the world to know about me is that I am never going to stop learning, growing, and working hard to experience more. I am ready to take on any challenge that I come across as an opportunity for growth. Bring it on, world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my best friends lives out of town in Boston, and if I were to show them the best time ever in Atlanta, you better believe I would have an itinerary! If she were to visit in the fall, it would be pretty warm and the sun would be out. We would have brunch at one of my favorite little spots, Cultivate, which is off Howell Mill Road, and get an outside table. Chicken and Waffles would be a must-have (a southern classic) and we would have bottomless mimosas until we got just a bit tipsy. Then, we would go to the botanical gardens. I love this place. My family has had a season pass for so long because we just love the atmosphere, plus the weather in Georgia is always so nice in the fall. We would then take a little road trip to Sandy Springs, where we would have my very favorite ramen in America, Okiboru. After that, we would take a little nap by the poolside, and then go play tennis at Piedmont Park. After working up another appetite, we would finish off our night at Park Tavern, which is right off Piedmont Park and watch the sunset as we enjoy sweet potato fries and a cold beer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my boyfriend, Eduardo. Even before we started dating, he was always so supportive and encouraging when it came to my dreams and goals. He pushed me to do more and be better. He pushed me to grow. I wouldn’t be where I am in my career if it wasn’t for Ed. He is a creative, talented, and extremely intelligent man with a passion for learning. We partnered together to create my website for Emma Rose Photography. Using his skills from his Software Engineering background, he custom coded my website to fit the design that I strived for, and now I have a website more amazing than anything I could have imagined. His passion for playing guitar and his talent for drawing has inspired me to work harder and harder every day to further develop my skills. Truly, we cannot reach success without our people. I’m so happy to have such a strong person in my life to help me follow my dreams.
