Meet Janay Terrell

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Janay Terrell again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.
Janay, we are so thrilled to be connecting again and can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you have been up to. Before we jump into all of that, some of our readers might have missed our prior interview, so can you take a moment to reintroduce yourself?
What’s up world!! I am Chef Janay Terrell, born in raised in da heart of Atl (Grady Baby). I am chef making name for myself. I attended the Art Institute in 2007 and has been going and growing since then.

Alright, so our main goal today is to give our audience an update on what you have been up to since our last conversation. We’d love to hear how things are going and what you are most looking forward to or excited about these days.
My journey to success since the last time we talked has been an uphill battle. Since then I’ve studied under a classically trained French chef and learned some great techniques from him. I’ve definitely had my moments of wanting to give up, especially while trying to find my target audience and keep some fresh content coming. I’ve done some amazing private dinners for some amazing clients that have now become friends. I have launched my first product for sale that being my infamous Zone Fo’ Sauce. Doing that made me feel unstoppable. My dream of having a few food trucks is still my goal and I am actively working towards that goal daily.

We have now arrived at one of our favorite parts of the interview – the lightning round. We’ll ask you a few quick questions to give us all some fun insights about you.

When you look back on your life, what are three things you expect to be proud of?
I expect to be proud of my drive, my determination to not give up, and living my life by a moral compass. You know, being thoughtful, compassionate, having grace for others. It’s important for me to always keep in mind that everyone is fighting their own battles so being nice to someone may save their life or at least put them at ease if only for that moment. I’m going to be a part of the solution and not the problem. Take things a day at a time and have plenty of grace on myself as well as others.
