We had the good fortune of connecting with Claudia Fitzwater and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Claudia, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind our success is authenticity. We remain steadfast in our mission to empower women by creating a genuine, welcoming space where they feel supported and celebrated. We’ve built a community rooted in trust, individuality, and strength through this approach.

While Atlanta offers endless workout options and ever-changing fitness trends, what sets us apart is our unwavering belief in our method and approach to fitness. We stay true to what we know works, focusing on real results and meaningful connections, rather than getting caught up in the latest buzz. This commitment to authenticity fuels our success and makes ProjectBody ATL a place women can call their own.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The idea for ProjectBody ATL was born after spending 8 years teaching and being an active member of Atlanta’s fitness scene. During that time, I taught at various studios, attended countless fitness classes at gyms and local studios, and immersed myself in the world of workouts. But despite all of that, something always felt missing.

I realized I wanted more than just a place to exercise—I wanted a true community. I wanted to create a space where women from different backgrounds, ages, body types, etc… could come together, sweat together, and support each other. A place that felt welcoming, empowering, and real.

That vision became ProjectBody ATL: a fitness studio where women can connect, grow stronger, and feel like they truly belong. It’s not just about the workout; it’s about building a community where everyone feels seen, celebrated, and encouraged to be their best self. That’s the heart of what I do, and it’s what makes ProjectBody so special. 💪✨

Creating ProjectBody ATL has not been a small feat. From securing funding to overcoming countless hurdles and learning the ins and outs of starting a business, the journey has been anything but easy.

Nothing truly prepares you for the challenges of owning a business—no handbook can cover it all. From managing finances to navigating marketing, building a brand, and creating a space that reflects your vision, every step has been a learning experience but I am from Colombia and I do not easily give up!

Lessons I Learned Along the Way:

1. Authenticity Is Everything
Staying true to your vision and values is the foundation for success. When you’re authentic, it resonates with your clients and creates a lasting impact.

2. Embrace the Challenges
Starting and running a business comes with countless hurdles, from funding to daily operations. Each challenge is an opportunity to grow, adapt, and learn.

3. Community Matters
Building strong relationships with your clients and creating a space where they feel seen and supported is just as important as the services you offer.

4. Patience Is Key
Success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, effort, and persistence to build something meaningful and sustainable.

5. Flexibility and Adaptability
Things don’t always go as planned, and that’s okay. Being open to change and willing to adjust your approach can lead to unexpected opportunities.

6. Self-Care Is Non-Negotiable
As a business owner, it’s easy to pour everything into your work, but taking care of yourself is essential. You can’t pour from an empty cup.

7. Trust the Process
Every step, whether big or small, contributes to the bigger picture. Celebrate the wins, learn from the setbacks, and trust that the journey is worth it.

ProjectBody ATL started humbly in a music classroom, where my coworkers joined me to test out my classes and methods for a whole year. It was during those early days that the foundation of our studio was built—through experimentation, support, and shared passion.

What’s even more special is that many of those fellow teachers who believed in me from the start are still part of this journey. Some have even become trainers at ProjectBody ATL, continuing to support and grow this community. Their encouragement and dedication have been instrumental in shaping what ProjectBody is today. 💪🎶✨

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Mamak: Malaysian street food done right.
Greatest Harvest: Delicious Vietnamese bánh mì sandwiches.
La Casona: A Colombian restaurant where you can indulge in hearty and flavorful dishes like bandeja paisa.

Day 3: Relaxation and Connection
