We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Dillard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natasha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Aww man, taking risks is why I’m here today. When I first started out solely working for myself as an Author, that was huge! I had written and published my first book four years ago. I wasn’t sure if people would enjoy my story. Because it was so vulnerable. It actually sold very well. For which I’m proud. Now when it comes to my modeling it’s also a risk. Celebrating my brand of beauty, I don’t often see women of my body type on magazines and on billboards. So that was taking a risk. I didn’t know how the online world would receive me. So far, it’s been beautiful and I’m confident and hopeful it stays that way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being brave, bold, and unapologetic is what got me this far. Also being brave enough to be vulnerable I find people really love and can relate to. A lot of times today the world can be really clammed up, afraid to open up and show their inner self. I put 100 percent of me in all my work which I find people really enjoy. My art involves openness and softness of the woman body. When I model, I want you to feel my presence in the photograph, not just look at it. From the way I’m glancing with my eyes, where my hands are positioned. The pose itself. It’s all very artistic and sensual. Was it easy, very much yes and no. When I got into modeling it was more so I had to. I was going through a major shift in my life and modeling found me. I find modeling very therapeutic. It was hard though, because again I wasn’t sure how the online would receive me. I am a curvy woman with a big Afro and large personality. I’m very thankful it’s been all good vibes! I want the world to know my name, my brand, that beauty comes in all shades, heights, sizes, and complexion and to represent and embrace your brand of beauty!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man! Don’t shame me now! Lol. I’ve been a homebody the last few years but I’m working on that! But I do thoroughly enjoy poetry. So a nice poetry club I’d recommend going to. A very artistic museum that showcases Black Artists and painters. Hiking is always a Blast! Do a nice downtown Atlanta trail or bike ride. You also can’t go wrong with a very chill and relaxed winery to try the different wines. That’s my go to for when a friend/or friends come to visit!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my daughter for giving me the inspiration everyday. She tells me I’m a role model for her. We have a special bond. I also want to shoutout my grandmother who is no longer with us. Her strength, confidence, and elegance helped put a light on my path that got me started in wanting to live as my own individual at a very early age.
