We had the good fortune of connecting with Sky Jordxn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sky, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success to me is being able to create on a daily basis. Being able to create on YouTube without having to conform to any “creative” rules that most people are afraid to break means a lot to me. Most would say money is the ultimate measure of success but that comes and goes but I feel like having an outlet to express creatively goes a long way for me and I want to show people that success looks differently depending on what makes your happy and aligns with your core values.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the things that sets me apart from others is that I’m not trying to be perfect or present as perfect when it comes to creating art. I’ve always been one to have ideas and try the idea to see if it works or doesn’t. I never really cared to be “right” because art is subjective.

I got to where I’m at now being a YouTuber and writing songs all from graduating from Full Sail University in 2018 and getting an internship at a studio in Atlanta and did the intern things for 2 weeks and I ran a session with a label artist and got hired on full time as an engineer. It seemed easy at the time but I realized I had way more to offer than just to sit and help others create art and not really connect to the artist because it was more genuine and fun when you were building with someone and I think that’s missing these days.

I ended leaving the studio and started a YouTube channel and the rest is history because I wanted to create without limits.

But some of the biggest lessons I learned working with some of my favorite industry artists were
– you learn more when you don’t act like you know it all
– don’t be afraid to ask questions
– school can’t prepare you for the people skills you need to control a session

and to the last question…
I just want the world to know it’s okay to create what you want but you have to find the people who want what you have to offer and that you shouldn’t force yourself to do something you wouldn’t do for free.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
when it comes to Atlanta I’m definitely a pizza junkie so I got to take them to Fellini’s Pizza then hit a few studios in the city. Ain’t nothing like good pizza and studio vibes honestly ( I rather be in the studio and I tend to have friends that are studio junkies as well )

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The YouTube Community of artists and producers/engineers I’ve built. Friends that’s more like brothers Atrocity1k, Chase & Jarrick that I tend to bounce ideas off of and talk music related things or just things that help with thinking outside of the box.

then I can’t forget my favorite books that help a lot like Law Of Human Nature by Robert Greene, The Practice by Seth Godin and The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin. These 3 books help me focus more as a creative.
