We had the good fortune of connecting with Darian Fisher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darian, how do you think about risk?
Life without risks is not a true life. Nobody in this world got to where they are at without taking some types of risks. Be it, taking out a small business loan to start a business not knowing if it will succeed or not, moving to another state to take a job not knowing anyone in that new state, or taking a girl on a date not knowing if she could be the “one”.

For me, I have taken a lot of various risks throughout my various careers, with some which didn’t work out and some which have indeed made my life what it is. When I left law enforcement 10 years ago, I had absolutely no idea what path I wanted to take. But I always had a passion to do things completely outside my comfort zone. With the entertainment industry blowing up in Atlanta in the mid 2010s, it was my chance to take another risk which included getting my feed wet on various film and tv sets, mostly starting out as background/extra and then slowly progressing my way to various speaking roles and getting an agent. Over 10 years later, I have been able to procure a myriad of roles on many shows and films, traveling outside the country, meeting dozens of A-list celebrities and perfecting my craft as an actor.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have over 15 years real life experience in law enforcement, mostly in the role of a police officer serving various communities. This real world experience has actually opened up a lot of doors in the acting side of things, as I have played the role of a police officer/detective on dozens of productions. Many casting directors see the benefit of someone with real world experience to fill roles and make it as real life as possible on camera. I have also used my experience as a technical advisor on various sets, with my signature role helping advise and direct a specific technical scene for the legendary Clint Eastwood in one of his films.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a native of Atlanta, there are many sights to see throughout the city and surrounding areas. I have always been more of the adventurer and outdoorsman, so my itinerary would focus more on the outdoors and letting them get a taste of what Georgia has to offer. As a matter of fact, I have been in this scenario on many of occasions with friends visiting and usually have a list of must things to do while in Atlanta and north Georgia. I would have to say those include, taking a hike up Stone Mountain, heading to the North Georgia mtns to hike a few beautiful trails on the famous Appalachian trail, visiting Helen, GA, going boating on Lake Lanier which I live by, and enjoying a dinner at the famous rotating Sun Dial restaurant overlooking the entire city of Atlanta.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to offer a shoutout to Ken Feinberg, my first acting instructor/coach and mentor when I started out in this field. He took me under his wings when I signed up for his Summer Acting Camp and then 6 month long acting intensive course. I was completely new to the industry, without an agent and not much of a clue on how everything worked, and he used his 20+years in the entertainment sector to help guide and teach me. I also want to thank Drama Inc. for allowing me to take so many courses to help perfect my craft as an actor and learning so many on camera acting techniques. Without all their training and knowledge, I wouldn’t be anywhere close to the all the experiences I have had on sets as an actor.
