We had the good fortune of connecting with Joey Nappo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joey, what role has risk played in your life or career?
As an artist, I view risk as an ally. An Excalibur level weapon that when calculated correctly will rocket you past your doubts and insecurities. There are always a million reasons not to do something, but taking a risk is not about the “why nots,” it’s about the one “why you should.” When you think of risk as an ally, you’re not taking one. My experiences have led me to self-assurance and to take a conventionally obvious risk by starting my own band. Don’t set goals, just make decisions.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is instant. One moment can inspire a flood of depth and crowd inspiring lyrics. I am most excited about my new venture, Love You, with my good friends. My outlook is that only takes two things to be “cool:” be kind and be genuine. If you lead with that stuff in your art and your life, then you will find what you’re looking for.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
They’d stay at my apartment, watch movies, cook food, jam together, and go out to see live music. I might not be the right person for this question 🙂
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Josh Warren of Action Show Studios. Josh has been a mentor, brother, and friend for many years and is one of the most talented people I know. By being ever encouraging and steadfast in his beliefs, Josh is a big reason I am continuing to pursue my dreams.
