We had the good fortune of connecting with Tameshiaye Poole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tameshiaye, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had a natural inclination toward leadership. After holding various jobs, I realized I was often overworked and undervalued. I wanted to find something that not only aligned with my purpose but also allowed me to support my family. I firmly believe that when you invest the same energy, time, and dedication into yourself, it creates the foundation for something truly great to grow.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At 21, I found myself sitting on my bed, right before the birth of my first son, reflecting on what was next in life. Fear and self-doubt crept in, as I’ve always been my own toughest critic. But in that moment, I realized I needed to shift my mindset. I grabbed my journal and committed to planning the next five years of my life, focusing on setting goals in all areas, personal and professional. I told myself, “You are a business, and you should treat your life as such.”

Each year on my birthday, I take the time to reflect on the goals I’ve achieved and the ones I’m still working on. This practice has brought balance, accountability, and clarity, helping me stay focused. The journey hasn’t been without its challenges, and there are still obstacles today, but I’ve come to view them as lessons. I believe everything, both good and bad, has its purpose. Shifting my mindset is what allows me to push through every challenge.

When I chose the name for my business, I wanted it to represent all of me. To be “BButterFly” is to be your best self, soaring to new heights. Hair may not change the world, but the person wearing it certainly can. My mission is to spread knowledge about hair care, empowerment, and self-growth.

As a mom, wife, and entrepreneur, the path isn’t easy, but it’s absolutely worth it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is a city with so much heart. While I don’t get out as often as I’d like, my friends know I’m all about a good spa day. Ideally, I’d spend time at the Four Seasons, relaxing poolside, catching up, and bonding, that’s what I value most at this stage of my life. I haven’t had the chance to visit yet, but I would love to explore the High Museum of Art someday.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my clients. You’ve shaped me in so many ways, our conversations and the advice you’ve shared have truly impacted my life. It’s an honor to have such incredible women trust me not only with their hair care but also with their personal stories. The love and support we’ve built together is something I deeply cherish. Of course, I can’t forget my home team, God, my husband, and my three amazing children. Without their encouragement and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
