We had the good fortune of connecting with Beth Acker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beth, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought of starting my own business and working for myself has always intrigued me. I completed my MBA in 2016 but did not have a clear vision of what my future would hold career wise. The idea of starting a children’s boutique came to me after I was becoming frustrated while shopping for my son, Charlie. I quickly noticed the lack of representation boys have in clothing stores, even in some of the big chain stores. I had one of those “light bulb moments” about opening an online children’s store with priority driven to boy clothing. After months of research, soul searching and a lot of shopping, Charlie and Friends Boutique was born!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Charlie and Friends Boutique launched in 2020. I am proud of the brand and story behind Charlie and Friends Boutique because I believe in its purpose. However, opening an online business is not as easy as one may think. Just launching a website and social media pages does not mean instantly making sales and earning followers. I am still trying to build a strong social brand by word-of-mouth advertising as well as social media. I am thankful that people are understanding and are excited about my brand and the story behind Charlie and Friends Boutique.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live about 45 minutes west of Atlanta in Carrollton, Georgia. We have a wonderful and thriving historic downtown, Adamson Square that has dining, shopping, and nightlife! My favorite go to restaurant is The Highland Deli and Grill! It is a town favorite! The Carrollton Greenbelt is great for anyone who wants to go for a bike ride, a run, or just take a nice stroll through different parts of the area. One of my favorite places to shop in town is Feathers and Twigs. It’s a vintage store that carries all kinds of antique furniture and household items!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a big shoutout my husband, Price. He is definitely a huge supporter of mine. He knows how to lift me up when I am having down moments and help me through the tough times. Without his excitement, encouragement and pep talks, my journey through life would be nowhere near as fun!
