We had the good fortune of connecting with Talia Staden Hutton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Talia, how do you think about risk?
Risk-taking has played a huge part in my career journey, especially when I made the shift from working in healthcare to freelancing. After seven years working in a field that initially seemed like it would be stable, I found myself feeling dread every day. I constantly struggled with impostor syndrome, never feeling like I truly belonged. It took a toll on my mental health and work-life balance, and I knew I needed to move on.

The decision to start all over was daunting, but I had to do it. I had to trust my intuition and believe that I knew what was best for me, even if it was a little scary. Thankfully, my husband also believed in me and gave me the extra encouragement I needed to take the leap. It turned out to be one of the best decisions for my career and my personal well-being.

When you’re not in the right place, you’ll feel it. Take those chances; you deserve to find what works for you!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My social media journey began with creating and promoting my own video content, just for fun. As I developed my skills, I realized I could use social media platforms to highlight causes that truly matter to me—and I was so excited! In 2023, I attended an educational tour hosted by the Emmett Till Legacy Foundation. Learning how Mamie Till-Mobley used the media to inspire global change really opened my eyes to just how powerful storytelling can be. From that moment, I knew social media would be my method for making a difference.

Today, I use my creativity to amplify important stories and brands—whether I’m designing social media campaigns for Atlanta businesses or working remotely with the Mound Bayou Museum in Mississippi on their social media, print designs, and more. What excites me most about digital media is how you can create real impact from anywhere. With the right tools and strategy, distance becomes irrelevant.

It is a challenge for sure. I have a three-year-old and a middle schooler—enough said! But my passion for what I do drives me forward every day.

At the core of my brand is the desire to empower others. I want businesses and individuals to feel confident sharing their stories, embracing their uniqueness, and making a real impact through social media. Whether I’m working with clients in Atlanta or collaborating with organizations remotely, I’m excited about what’s next and how I can help more people and brands grow their presence in an authentic, impactful way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d absolutely take my best friend to Flight Club! It’s such a fun spot where you can play darts while enjoying delicious food and cocktails. The decor is so cute, too. I love that the darts games track your scores automatically and Flight Club sends you photos and videos of the games afterward. I went for my birthday this year and had so much fun!

We’d also have to catch The Rocky Horror Picture Show at The Plaza. In my opinion, it’s hands-down the most fun thing you can do in Atlanta! The energy is amazing. Lots of people in costume, singing and shouting at the screen with the rest of the audience, actors performing on stage along with the movie…It’s an event like nothing else.

And no visit would be complete without stopping by the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park. It’s a beautiful and peaceful spot, and such an eye-opening, educational experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to send the biggest shoutout to Hermon Johnson, Jr. and Darryl Johnson, Sr. at the Mound Bayou Museum. I can’t thank you both enough! You’ve encouraged me in ways I truly needed, believed in me when I couldn’t see my own potential, and helped me grow in ways I never expected. Working with you has been such a rewarding experience, and I urge everyone to visit the Mound Bayou Museum.

I’m also deeply grateful to Alchemy LARP Atlanta Players for giving me my very first paid videography and video editing job. It meant more to me than words can ever express. Thank you for believing in me and supporting my work.

To my family, I’m endlessly thankful. My mom, who supported my passion for filming and editing as a kid; and my husband, Andrew—one of Atlanta’s most talented photographers—for always doing whatever it takes to help me chase my dreams. To every family member and friend who has stood by me, I love you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
