We had the good fortune of connecting with Tashelle Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tashelle, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
This is not advice per se, but it’s a subject I disagree with wholeheartedly that needs to be addressed.
There are some “experts” within the social media management/marketing field that share and promote “cookie cutter” social media strategies for businesses to use and follow.
My philosophy is that there is not one business that is the same. Which means that social media strategies should not be similar. Though there are many businesses within the same niche or industry, there is something that sets each of them apart. That’s the key needed to structure and personalize social media strategies for organic growth.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve always had an interest and passion for social media that dates back to the Xanga and Myspace days. Before Socially Yours Collective, I was a gymnastics coach who also ran the social media channels for the gym. The strategy, content creation, and analytics process always intrigued me. I always thought that if I could help build engagement and reach for this one business, just imagine how many more businesses I could help thrive because at this time and age, social media centers around everything.
That’s when I took the leap of faith and created my own social media management company. However, starting the business ground-up wasn’t easy with no clientele and new social channels, it forces you to hustle and put yourself and your business out there in there world. 2 months passed until I landed my first client, but it was well worth it. I believe that’s where most businesses fail. They don’t see immediate results and give up. Perseverance and determination is always the key to success.
Socially Yours Collective is an Atlanta-based social media management company that provides clients with personalized content strategies, eye-catching content, and results backed by analytics that always keeps them in mind. Helping brands build their social media presence authentically and grow a trusting community organically. No short cuts, gimmicks, “hacks”, or one-size fits all approach.
I want the world to know and remember that there may be over 1 billion social media users, but there is only 1 you. If there’s one thing to take away from Socially Yours Collective, it’s our motto: “Every brand has its own unique identity, stand out, be seen, stay true.”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Atlanta, I would say we’d spend the majority of our time in Midtown. There’s a variety of different people, things to do and eat and it’s very easy to maneuver by walking.
If it’s a beautiful day on the Beltline, drinks at New Realm Brewery, Burle’s Bar, Pour Taproom or Rooftop Clermont would be ideal.
Lunch, brunch, or dinner would take place at Palo Santo, Bastone, or Fellini’s takeaway for a girls night in.
For experiences we’d dress up and head to Jojo’s Beloved, The Dirty Tea, The High Museum or an intimate karaoke session off Buford Hwy.
For a quick little getaway, I’d drive her to the Italian winery, Montaluce Winery & Restaurant in Dahlonega, GA.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my family and friends for the continuous support and encouragement throughout my entrepreneurship journey. It isn’t always easy and it’s definitely not for the weak. But, with your words, prayers, and recommendations this is only the beginning of something truly amazing.
