Meet Jordan Norris | Founder & Marketing Consultant @ Norse Consulting

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Norris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
As someone who has worked across different industries in marketing, one thing I’ve realized is that the idea of a ‘unique’ audience is misleading.
Many believe that specific messaging or tactics won’t work for their industry because it won’t resonate with their audience.
But at the end of the day, you’re marketing to people—humans who clock out and enjoy the same things as anyone else. While ideal customer profiles are useful, it’s important to remember that you’re still speaking to a person, not a segment.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career journey has been a dynamic blend of creativity, technical expertise, and business acumen. What sets me apart is the exposure I’ve had to so many different facets of the business world. Early on, I began as a designer, crafting digital worlds with tools like Gimp and Inkscape, but as I moved forward, my career evolved in unexpected and exciting ways.
At 16, I shadowed and then interned at a marketing agency where I wasn’t just limited to design. I worked closely with front-end and back-end engineers, gaining hands-on experience in the technical aspects of web development and seeing how different teams collaborate to bring complex ideas to life. This blend of creative and technical work broadened my understanding of what it takes to build a seamless customer experience.
I’ve also had the unique opportunity to collaborate with top-tier creatives, including videographers and sound designers who were hired by Disney. Working with people who are masters of their craft taught me the importance of attention to detail, storytelling, and how sound and visuals together can create powerful narratives.
These diverse experiences—whether on the technical side or in creative production—have been invaluable in shaping how I approach problem-solving and strategy. I’ve been able to see firsthand how different teams and disciplines come together to influence customer behavior and business success.
The journey hasn’t always been easy. I’ve often been told to slow down or be more patient, but my drive has always been to keep pushing and challenging the status quo. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that I wish I had taken more time to celebrate my own milestones. Now, as I look back, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and am excited to share my knowledge with others, whether it’s mentoring those new to their careers or helping businesses navigate complex marketing challenges.
What I want the world to know about my story is that success is rarely linear. It’s about embracing all aspects of business—from the technical to the creative—and staying relentless in your pursuit of growth.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d want to show them a mix of local favorites and some of Georgia’s highlights. We’d kick off the trip by heading to Reformation Brewery in downtown Woodstock for some craft beers and good vibes on a weekend night. The whole downtown area is buzzing with energy, great restaurants, and live music, making it a perfect start to the trip.
The next day, we’d take a scenic drive up to Gibbs Gardens, where they can take in the beauty of the expansive flower gardens and serene landscapes. It’s a peaceful retreat and a great way to spend a day outdoors.
For a fun afternoon, we’d stop by The Market in Woodstock for some antique shopping and unique finds, followed by a visit to Marietta Square for more local shopping, delicious bites, and a chance to explore some history.
Later in the week, we’d head to Georgia Aquarium to experience one of the largest aquariums in the world, and then wrap things up with a walk along the Atlanta Beltline, a great spot for taking in local street art, grabbing some food at nearby spots, and just soaking in the culture of Atlanta.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge part of my success and ability to challenge the status quo comes from my mother in my childhood years. She made the bold decision to homeschool 4 of her 9 children, including me, and used that opportunity to encourage interest-led learning and independent research. This approach empowered me to think differently and not be afraid to explore unconventional paths.
I’m also incredibly grateful for the mentors and leaders I’ve had throughout my career who gave me the freedom to grow through trial and error. It was often in those moments of experimentation that I realized much of the conventional advice I found online didn’t always hold up.
Lastly, I’d love to recognize some of the books that have played a role in shaping my perspective on challenging norms:
“Start with Why” by Simon Sinek
“Tribes” by Seth Godin
“The Five Dysfunctions of a Team” by Patrick Lencioni
These books, combined with the support from my mother and my mentors, have been instrumental in my journey.
