We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Groover and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leah, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
This balance is some thing every functioning and working adult struggles with. But I do believe that it is the thing that makes up our lives, and it is ever-changing.

Having my own business means making it a priority, but not allowing it to consume my life. I have always been able to find a healthy balance between my performing career, my business, and my personal life. The biggest change as of recent is the fact that I have a new baby, and I am a new mom. I knew this was going to be a challenge when I was pregnant, but I am so very proud to say that I am still balancing all of the things together! I certainly could not do it without my village of support. But the balance continues as long as I keep my focus on showing my child that if you work hard enough, You can do all the things that you want!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own my own dance studio called Get Up And Dance! It has become one of my favorite places to be, it is a space that brings artists together, and people all alike to share the joy of dance. I want everyone to know that I aim to provide quality dance instruction to adults, no matter their level of experience. it is a non-intimidating atmosphere, and I welcome everyone to join the fun!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would encourage folks to check out Ponce city market, and all of the areas around it, because it is so great for people watching, and you get to experience life in Atlanta! Not to mention there’s so much art everywhere

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I don’t care if it is cliché. I absolutely need to give credit and the shout out properly to my amazing parents. Time and time again, we hear about parents who do not support their kids in a career in the arts, because it can be so unstable and lacking and financial wealth. But when I told my parents when I was in the third grade that I wanted to dance, professionally, They helped me see it through even to where I am now. They were always driving me to dance classes and performances near and Far, and they never missed seeing me perform. Their support of my passion means everything to me.
