We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Rose Sneed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monique Rose, is there something you believe many others might not?
“In every competition, there are no winners or losers, only learners.”

There are absolutely losers and winners! Competition is a constant, it’s how you approach it that is a game changer. Once you understand the mechanics of competition, it will serve you better than any other outside entity (other than God of course). What I mean by this is; I decided a long time ago to take control of the narrative and definition of competition. Looking back, people started competing with me a long time ago, before I was even aware of it, people close to me, working with me, for me, family, friends you name it, I’ve probably experienced it. You will win and you will lose and it’s important to experience both ends of that spectrum. “Losing gracefully” is powerful in itself, if we allow it to motivate us, but eventually you learn that you are your greatest competition and although doing the work to show up and win everyday, to refine your skills, output and results…all matter- the greatest calling is to outwork yourself every single day. So when I say outwork everybody, I mean it, because there’s enough wins for everybody willing to put that work in.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business journey has been a beautiful blend of passion, perseverance, and purpose. I currently run [insert business name(s)], where we focus on [briefly describe the business focus, e.g., providing unique, high-quality products/services tailored to [target audience]]. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to quality and the genuine relationships we build with our customers. We don’t just offer a product or service; we offer an experience that resonates deeply with our clients, leaving them feeling valued and understood.

One of the things I’m most proud of is how we’ve managed to stay true to our core values while expanding our reach. It’s incredibly exciting to see how far we’ve come, especially as we venture into new territories and explore fresh ideas within the restaurant and hospitality industry with Rose Purchasing Group. I think what excites me the most right now is the prospect of growth—both personally, as I prepare to welcome another child, and professionally, as we continue to innovate and push boundaries in our industry.

The road to where I stand today hasn’t been all roses (LOL). There were countless challenges—moments of doubt, financial hurdles, and times when the vision seemed out of reach. However, each obstacle taught me something invaluable. I learned the importance of resilience, of never giving up even when things get tough. I learned to trust God more than ever and to surround myself with people who believe in the vision as much as I do.

The biggest lesson, though, has been the power of authenticity. Being true to myself and my brand has attracted the right opportunities. I want the world to know that my story is one of growth and hard work, both in business and life. I’m not just building a brand; I’m creating a legacy for my children with my husband, showing them that with by outworking everyone, passion, and a little bit of faith, anything is possible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Atlanta for a week, I’d make sure they had an unforgettable experience that truly captures the essence of this incredible city. Atlanta has so much to offer, especially when it comes to supporting women-owned and Black-owned businesses, which I’m incredibly passionate about.

We’d kick off the trip with brunch at Breakfast at Barney’s—a Black-owned spot that offers an elevated brunch experience with a menu that’s both creative and comforting. It’s the perfect way to start our week with some soulful vibes and delicious food.

For some culture and history, we’d spend a day at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. These places are not only educational but deeply inspiring, reminding us of the power of resilience and the importance of standing up for what’s right.

Lunch could be at Slutty Vegan, the Black-owned vegan spot that has taken Atlanta by storm. and even took over my restaurant in Maryland earlier this year! It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience—fun, vibrant, and unapologetically bold, just like Atlanta itself. In the evening, we’d head to Ponce City Market for a little shopping and a rooftop view of the city, followed by dinner at Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours—a woman-owned, Black-owned gem where the Southern-inspired cuisine is simply to die for.

Throughout the week, we’d explore different neighborhoods. Little Five Points for its eclectic mix of shops and street art, Westside Provisions District for a more upscale shopping and dining experience, and Castleberry Hill for its art galleries and cool vibe. We’d definitely catch a live show at The Fox Theatre, one of Atlanta’s most iconic venues, and visit the High Museum of Art to soak in some true ATL culture.

To unwind, a day trip to Piedmont Park for a picnic and a stroll through the Atlanta Botanical Garden would be perfect. We’d also have to hit up The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art—a must-see, highlighting works by women of the African diaspora.

By the end of the week, I’d make sure we visited some local markets, like The Village Market, where we could shop Black-owned businesses. We’d close out the trip with a Sunday brunch at The Gathering Spot, a private social club founded by two young Black entrepreneurs, where the sense of community is so dope its almost palpable.

Atlanta is a city that pulses with creativity, culture, and history, and I’d want my best friend to experience it all—from the rich heritage to the innovative new spots that make this city so dynamic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The support, love and encouragement that I receive from my family is unmatched! My husband, my children, and my closest friends, and team members deserve big credit and recognition! I am forever grateful.
