We had the good fortune of connecting with Clinton McCoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Clinton, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The path to creating Holistic Fitness 2.0 was both purpose-driven and necessary. Losing my grandmother to Alzheimer’s, one aunt to Type 2 Diabetes, another aunt to cancer, and my best friend to a heart attack at 42 inspired me to start working out. However, it wasn’t until my own health crisis around age 47 that I embraced a holistic approach to health and well-being. At my worst, I had Type 2 Diabetes with an A1C of 6.5, high cholesterol at 310, severe chronic back pain due to systemic inflammation, and anxiety. Through learning about healing the different systems of the body instead of just focusing on weight loss, I discovered the secret to making significant and lasting changes. It took me until I was almost 50 to crack the weight loss and health optimization code. After mastering it by working on myself, I created a repeatable system based on scientific and personal experience that includes strength training, fasting, and healing various body systems and processes to help people in my community reverse chronic diseases.
These experiences, along with the lack of accessible, scientifically backed information, motivated me to create Holistic Fitness 2.0, an upgraded version of my initial approach. My goal is to create meaningful change by empowering my community with the tools and knowledge to take control of their health. These programs help individuals reverse chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, achieving optimal well-being. Through educational content and personalized programs, I aim to help people get healthy, fit, and thrive in spirit, mind, and body.
I specialize in strength and conditioning, reducing pain, and reversing chronic diseases through a holistic approach. My mission is to redefine what holistic fitness is. Building a supportive community ensures lasting health improvements through practical and educational programs, setting my methods apart from traditional approaches.
Additionally, I have established a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Fit Future Initiative, to further support my mission. This initiative provides high-level coaching to underserved communities who might not otherwise have access to this type of coaching, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to achieve lasting transformation.

Holistic Fitness 2.0 is a comprehensive wellness program that integrates mind, body, and spirit. What sets us apart is our commitment to addressing the root causes of chronic diseases, not just the symptoms. We combine scientific research with personal experience to create transformative programs like the Holistic Fitness 2.0 Health and Wellness Guide and the 90-day transformational program. I’m most proud of our nonprofit, The Fit Future Initiative, which provides high-level coaching for underserved communities at a low cost. Our supportive community and the real, positive changes we see in people’s lives every day are incredibly rewarding.
My journey has been far from easy. In my book, The Reverse Effect: Seven Life-Changing Principles, I share my path from being kicked out of school in 9th grade, homeless at 15, and battling with the legal system, to a life-threatening accident that sparked my spiritual awakening. Overcoming these challenges required self-awareness, self-forgiveness, courage, a mindset reset shift, and a personal relationship with God. Building Holistic Fitness 2.0 was a natural extension of my personal development evolution and a testament to the power of resilience and growth.
One crucial lesson I’ve learned is the importance of the people around you. Your circle and the core nucleus of your relationships are critical—it’s like building a Personal All-American Dream Team. Sometimes, you have to build this team and add value first before you see the benefits. Another vital lesson is the importance of becoming sovereign: understanding who you are and having a plan that doesn’t rely on anyone else. Lastly, being flexible and able to pivot is essential. Broaden your perspectives, stay pliable, and adapt to new challenges and opportunities.
Holistic Fitness 2.0 is more than fitness; it’s part of my broader vision under “A Black Man Inspires.” In my book, The Reverse Effect: Seven Life-Changing Principles, I focus on the four quadrants of well-being: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Our brand emphasizes longevity and optimal fitness, especially for those over 40. We believe that everyone deserves to live a life that is fit, sound, and full of vitality.
Through our nonprofit, The Fit Future Initiative, we extend our reach to underserved communities, ensuring everyone has the opportunity for optimal well-being. With the support of the community, my team, and my mindset of personal growth we are making a positive impact on lives and redefining what it means to be truly healthy.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d have to say that my mentor and biggest influence in life has been Spirit simply because of the way my life has unfolded. My current life looks nothing like I planned, but it’s more expansive than anything I could have imagined without key moments of Spirit’s intervention. In my book, The Reverse Effect: Seven Life-Changing Principles, I discuss my journey from being kicked out of school in 9th grade, to being homeless at age 15, in and out of the legal system as a teen and young adult. I was on a path toward self-destruction. But, what could have been a life-ending accident became the catalyst that led to my spiritual awakening and a vision of a future I had never imagined. Through faith, courage, and a personal relationship with God, that future has become my reality.
Beyond the Divine, my path has been profoundly shaped by the wisdom I’ve gleaned from countless books on wellness and self-improvement. Books like The New Psychocybernetics, Atomic Habits, Extreme Ownership, and Peak Performance have broadened my perspective and taught me how to turn my desires and aspirations into reality. Health journals and scientific research have also provided the foundation for the programs and products we offer, such as the Holistic Fitness 2.0 Health and Wellness Guide and our premium fitness programs. Community feedback and peer-reviewed information ensure that our content is both reliable and impactful.
Finally, the support from my private Holistic Fitness 2.0 community has been invaluable. This group has not only been a source of motivation but also a rich resource of shared experiences and knowledge that continually inspires and informs our work. The collective efforts and shared stories within this community highlight the power of coming together to achieve common life goals. My small but dedicated team has been instrumental in amplifying the impact of my work.
All these influences combined have enabled me to build Holistic Fitness 2.0 and continue to impact lives positively. My mission is to redefine what holistic fitness is, and it is through the collective support of Spirit, my team, and the holistic health community that this vision is becoming a reality.
