We had the good fortune of connecting with Theresa Marguerite Lacy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Theresa Marguerite, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted my brand since I was in highschool. I had no game plan just the vision I kept holding onto from an actual dream I had! So all of highschool I talked about all these style ideas, the way my stores would be set up and what states would get a store. So immaturely, straight out of highschool I started designing graphic shirts and selling them. It was a lot to start it up, just to fumble for years. It was a lot of discouragement that came with it! Then I realized the biggest part of starting your own business is the consistency you put into it and promoting it. I’ve been doing this consistently now for 4 years, and it’s still so much I’m learning and processing in order for the brand to come out successfully! Especially the meaning behind it!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I believe the fact that I’ve learned how to have fun with my brand while bringing a holistic approach into it, makes it intriguing. The name itself is giving a holistic statement. In the beginning I kept trying to find quotes that were equally yoked to put on the shirts and hoodies. Now I know all it needs is the brand name or logo because my other products ooze the meaning. So (clearing throat, I’m a major goofball), you have the shirts, hoodies, crochet attire, herbal bath salts and oils that you can use in your spirituality to aid manifestations or even spells for those that do spell work, waist beads, crystals, crystal bracelets, chakra introduction journals, and tarot/music readings. And it’s just the beginning! In addition to what I love creating, I take myself back through healing along with my clients that come to me about their journey or wanting to start their journey! It took a long time to get this far and this set on what my brand would consist of. It’s not easy to believe in what you’re doing, promoting, when you see no results. Being a business owner will break you mentally, emotionally, and physically, but it’s all worth it. The tears from having product that’s not moving, so now you’ve lost money instead of gained. Then you go back to the drawing board and change things. With that comes anxiety because if they didn’t bite with what you presented before, are they even paying attention to this new product or the brand at all?! I cried, doubted, and gave up on myself a lot. I stopped focusing on my brand after 2011. It wasn’t that I didn’t want it anymore I got discouraged and off track with myself. In 2020 my big sister brought me a amethyst crystal and it triggered so much i didn’t realize what was even actually happening, but I followed where I was guided to. And it took me down my own personal bipolar emotional journey of healing, awakening, and I fell in love with so much again. But I didn’t start the clothing side up then. I started making essential oil soap bars and body scrub for spiritual purposes, and crystal bracelets. It started off good, slowed down, so I pulled back, moved to Alabama, started the bracelets up again, but life happened. The end of 2022 through 2023 was a rollercoaster but all the ideas came back. But 2023 I focused on the shirts and hoodies again. To see my logo and brand name stamped across others chest or back, I cry inside everytime. It wasn’t until I entered my self healing and spiritual learning that i understood for myself what my brand meant to me. It makes me so proud that NOW, I am a BRAND! I can say I have a brand because of the depth the words have. LIFE…Live InFamous Everyday be you, live YOUR life, forget what others project onto you. Nobody can be you, nobody can live your life for you or through you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh wow see that’s difficult! I’m currently in Forest, MS. Not much to do here, and I actually haven’t done a lot here. I do love going to Roosevelt Park for the nature scenerio especially the lake!
So I’d definitely take her there cuz that’s one thing we both love and always need to do! I’ve been wanting to go to Natchez Trace and walk so that will be part of the itinerary!
I’d take her to Flowood, for our much needed shopping ventures and fatkid food. Flowood is about 30-40 minutes from Forest. Forest is very small and all local businesses besides Walmart, cvs, mc Donald’s, Wendy’s, BK, Sonic, Popeyes, KFC, Taco Bell. So if you want to have a little fun and eat good good, you take that drive! Which i actually enjoy now that I’ve realized how much I love to travel!
The rest of the week I would have to definitely look up and create an itinerary for 😂😂.
And her last day we’ll probably have a girls night at my place with the rest of the tribe!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I first started I didn’t have a mentor or a support system and I attempted to launch my brand since 2005! In 2021 I met my mentor! She may not realize she’s my mentor because she’s also basically family, Felecia Gold. She’s the owner of Nubian Queen Natural Beauty. I aspire to be able to step foot in events along side her consistently one day! Her work ethic and determination has helped me push the way that I do! And I definitely have to give a big shout out to my tribe! Chelsie Bailey, bestie and beautician! Mykia Harris, bestie and make up artist and esthetician. She’s also an aspiring plus size model. Christina Robinson, bestie and lash tech! We all have our own businesses and try our best to encourage each other to keep going no matter how difficult times get. And my best friend since 9th grade Shelly Davis, who I can’t wait to get her herbal healing business going! These women keep me from giving up directly. And then there’s fellow spiritualists that I admire and inspire equally that makes it all worth it!
