Meet Sheldyn “Sam” Moore | Director/Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheldyn “Sam” Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sheldyn “Sam”, how does your business help the community?
Perry Moore Entertainment is a family owned production company that’s foundation was built on giving someone with a dream an opportunity! Originating in Georgia and slowly transitioning to South Carolina, our mother daughter duo saw the drastic gap in film development in South Carolina. We have made it our mission to find talent within the Lower Richland school districts to give aspiring actors a chance at growing their skills. We also provide internship opportunities for college students to gain experience and obtain credit hours. You know what they say, “it’s who you know”, and we strive to be the bridge to help someone reach their dreams.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My start to the film industry was just a girl with an iPhone, on a summer vacation making videos for her friends. Once I got home, that fun project turned into a business. I then bought my first camera and started doing videography in the Atlanta area for big clients. Of course I loved being in a room with celebrities, and no, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to be once I graduated, but I wanted more for myself as someone with a hunger to be in that room as a guest… not an employee. I got my degree in Communications and my Masters in Fine Arts from UGA and began speaking life into the my title as a Director.
My mother Stephanie Perry Moore has written over 80 books that have done amazing!! I always knew my mom wanted to turn her books into films but I didn’t think I would be the one to do it until she watched me filming a music video. Fast forward to an Emmy Nominated Show titled The Cool and the Strong and many more to come, we are a duo that strives for greatness.
The arts is such a unique field because it’s simply doing what you love. That comes with tears, joy, stress, anxiety, and I love every second of it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Depending on the vibeeeeee… If were keeping it classy, I’m obsessed with The Dirty Tea! I love a good brunch! I would say Toast if they’ve never been to the city. If you want to listen to good music or watch a game, I would go to The Hive! If you want to be outside and enjoy the city of course were going to the belt line to rent scooters and check out the town!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my mother! She has worked so hard over the past 20 years pitching all of her book series to make films. The fact that God aligned my graduation and her first green-lit script up during the same year, and her choosing me to direct her work not only gave me the platform I have today, but a new best friend that I’ve been so eager to meet all my life.
I would also like to thank my work mom, aka my boss. My first job out of college and she saw something in me that I never knew I had. She taught me strength and how to lead a group. It’s only been two years and yet it feels as if I have a lifetime of knowledge.
