We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Bryson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Doing good in the world is why we are all here. I’m so lucky to have a business that allows me to give back to my animal loving community. Weekly, I volunteer to photograph the adoptable dogs & cats for my local Humane Society. Quality photos of animal hoping for a forever home increases their adoption rates, especially this year as so many people took to searching for their new family member online. In addition, I am able to support 10-15 charities a year through donations to silent auctions and galas to raise funds for various causes. Lastly, and my favorite, is getting together quarterly with other local pet businesses to host my Pet Portrait Event series, which are themed studio sessions with a portion of the session fees being donated to local rescue groups. I photograph hundreds of loved dogs in fun sets and this year have donated over $3,000 through these events! It’s a great way to get more people involved – they get a great fund photo of their dog & help support rescue groups!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a professional pet photographer, I create photographic artwork for dog moms who recognize & celebrate the incredible relationships we share with our canine kids. The best part of my job (besides being able to meet all the dogs) is seeing my client’s face when they sees their images for the first time. There is something really magical about seeing the images on screen and then seeing those pixels become real artwork for your home. Because, while digital files are great for Instagram & the lock screen on your phone, nothing quite makes you smile like walking past your favorite furry face on the wall. While my canine clients might say all the treats at the session are their favorite part of the experience, my fellow dogs moms know that having someone walk you through all the choices and delivering finished, ready to display artwork is why they choose to work with me. Most days you’ll find me on our small farm in Rutledge, GA taking care of rescued pigs, donkeys, dogs, a cat, & a horse & caring for the special needs foster dogs we take in as part of the non profit Boston Terrier Rescue I founded with my wife in 2014. When I’m not at home editing photos and caring for animals, my favorite place to be is rolling in the grass somewhere photographing dogs!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Spending a week in the city makes me want to visit all my favorite spots: – Lunch at Home grown for vegan sloppy joe’s – A walk through Oakland Cemetery – A stop by Highland Pet Supply to get something special for the dogs – A show at the Fox Theatre – Visiting Stone Mountain Park

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so thankful to the Humane Society of Morgan County, my local humane society, for allowing to meet, love, & photograph so many amazing animals!
