We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Nixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Morgan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’m Morgan Nixon, and I am the founder and CEO of Actualized AF, a digital content platform and community, talking all things designing a life you love! I share strategies on goal-setting and productivity to help my audience actualize in any aspect of their lives including lifestyle, travel, home, beauty, wellness and more. Essentially, I provide content and strategies for goal-getting women around the globe to break boundaries and become the multi-dimensional, actualized versions of themselves that they’ve always visualized!
My passion for living my life authentically as my truest self, and my background as an educator and learning designer have led me to create this business for myself. I also have a passion for supporting women who also want to live out their truest selves, but may need support and strategies to do so.
The content on my social platforms shares the story of my journey, but also shares tips and strategies for goal-setting that I have learned along my journey as well as those that I have researched through my professional career as an educator. My 10+ years of expertise in education and learning design allows me to effectively articulate my messaging through storytelling and tangible tips that my audience can strategically practice in their lives. The purpose of my platform is to remind my audience that a life that you truly love is not reserved for the imagination, but rather, through small daily actions, one can achieve their own version of actualization.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an educator turned content creator who has a public relations background! I know, a bit different from the norm, but all of that experience has helped lead me to this moment where I am merging all of my background into one dream career, which is Actualized AF!
But first, let’s rewind to how I got here:
I studied at Penn State University in undergrad for public relations and international studies. I had amazing opportunities to intern in the PR world while I was in college —interning at places like MTV Networks, Seventeen Magazine, The Food Network and Makeup Forever. Despite these amazing experience, I knew early on that I had a message to share of my own with the world and that, while working behind the scenes was fulfilling, I also knew that inspiring people to live their dreams from in front of the camera was my destiny. I just wasn’t ready to accept it then.
So, the international studies part of it all took over. I decided to inspire people in other ways by becoming an international educator. I moved to South Korea to teach English, then lived in Tokyo, Japan to teach business English and I loved the world of education. I was able to work with people to show them the possibilities of themselves and with life. Education became the foundation of my work and I knew that in any work that I were to do moving forward, the basis would be to inspire and educate people about their own possibilities.
My work in education and inspiration continued — and so did my itch to share the message of embracing and creating possibilities. I switched from being a classroom educator to a learning experience designer. Basically, I design global online courses to support individuals’ professional development from learning language to learning teaching strategies to learning tech. I love this field so much that I got my second master’s degree in Technology, Innovation and Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
After having over a decade of experience in education, I decided to start my own venture, invest in myself and support women around the world in their pursuit of being actualized.
My background in PR to education to content creation all actualized into a lifelong and pivotal career with the purpose of inspiring and motivating others, specifically women, to design lives they love by embracing their multi-dimensions, creating intentional space to achieve their dreams and actualizing a life they love.
Was it easy? No. Especially not truly being able to see and execute this vision after having a feeling of wanting to accomplish this for over a decade. However, now that I am here, making my vision come true, I know that everything in my past has led me to this moment.
I am excited to continue to scale and use all of my skills and expertise to continue supporting and empowering women.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love creative spaces where you can meet other creatives, work and play and have the space to actualize your goals!
Some recommendations for me would be a co-working space called Create ATL in the West End. I host my accountability groups here and it is such a unique, airy and open space to work and meet others who can help you achieve your goals.
I also like The Gathering Spot, a professional co-working space where you can network, attend panels and events and generally level-up your professional career. This is a great space to learn what is going on in the city while also having change makers right at your finger tips!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Accountable AF is an accountability group and space where a small group of women can commit to their personal and professional goals, cultivate a community of like-minded women, and capitalize off of the relationships and opportunities within the group. Although I am the creator and facilitator of Accountable AF, the members who show up for themselves and each other continue to inspire me daily!
With over 30 members currently, the group members have offered resources, shared messages of support, purchased from the members’ small business, attended events hosted by members, and more! These women are truly the definition of what it means to be actualized and accountable and I enjoy meeting with them once a month to goal-set and sharing strategies for goal-getting! I also love having social time with the members because they constantly remind me of the power of community and that support is second-to-none when building a brand!
With so many women represent diverse industries, there is always something to learn, something to think about and someONE who will change your perspective to get you to actualize even further! Now, that’s the true definition of what it means to be Accountable AF!
