We had the good fortune of connecting with Melody Champagne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melody, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My business is the window tinting industry and in this industry we provide films that provide privacy, block 99% of harmful UV rays & reject heat. Window tinting is a great option to reduce glare and some of the light from the sun for those who are sensitive to brightness. The film brand that we use, XPEL, is on The Skin Cancer Foundations’ recommended list for products that are preventative towards cancer. The beauty is that you don’t even have to choose an expensive option to reap this benefit. All window tint does it and its like wearing sunblock while you’re in your car. Additionally, you can opt to choose a more expensive window film, such as ceramic, that will reject heat for those who are sensitive to heat or just enjoy having a cooler car for those hot summer days.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business is called Champagne Window Tinting. The idea was inspired by my last name, Champagne, however is transpired into the type of service I strive to provide at our shop. I started my tinting journey as the main tinter for a luxury car brand, Porsche. I fell in love with the way they provided a luxury experience for each of their customers and decided I wanted to do the same. Our brand is elegant, our service and quality is top notch, and we provide this for every customer, no matter what type of vehicle it is.
Along the journey to getting here and even now, we still are learning. It’s an ongoing process that for a new business, you don’t have everything figured out right away. It’s through many challenges such as how we present ourselves, to the quality of our work that we are constantly perfecting. I didn’t come from a life of luxury, however I am constantly placing myself and observing those around me who I believe embody that style.
In the beginning though, we were rocky. We were new and the words that came out of our mouth, stumbled sometimes.
We knew the goal was answering all the questions someone may have, confidently. It’s just not what comes out right away. Almost 3 years in and we’re excited because we’re better, not even great, and we didn’t give up. We imagine what we’ll sound like 3 years from now and that’s motivating.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in the suburbs of Kennesaw, GA but if my best friend came to visit, I’d take them to the beltline and give them a little tour of Atlanta itself such as drive around centennial park and stop wherever we see fit. Next I’d want to bring them to some of my favorite hiking spots such as Pine Mountain in Cartersville, Iron Hill Trail around Lake Allatoona, Roswell Mill Bridge and Waterfall or Kennesaw Mountain. One of those nights I’d definitely take them to a Braves game and hang out around Truist Park. Other than that I would take them to Downtown Alpharetta, Roswell or Marietta for a cute walk around the town. For food I’d take them to get some Ramen at Jinya (any location) or my favorite spot for sushi, Sushiology in Kennesaw, GA.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There have been several people who have helped me along the way. Our industry is huge and holds several amazing events each year to network, level-up your skills and grow your business. One person who stands out to me in my journey is Marco Cazorla. He works for XPEL, the film brand I use, and has been a part of my journey from the very beginning. Starting with reaching out on Instagram to introduce me to the tinting community, to mentorship in our industry along the way. Marco has always been the person who I can call for any small or big thing and if he doesn’t know the answer, he sends you to someone who does. Marco posts things daily that doesn’t just help me but others in the community and that is the guy you want in your circle.
