We had the good fortune of connecting with Chef Cheez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chef, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting a business derives first from my parents for years having their own food business and the opportunities they was able to provide for themselves and others. It inspired me to start Chef Cheez Cuisine to not only create quality food and excellent service but be able to do it for all walks of life to have a connect in the catering business. Second having my own business allows for a free range of freedom to do catering the right way and that’s to serve the customer and take care of their needs.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My catering business is different from others is the customer plays a significant roll in making their event special by being able to express their expectations and allow me to serve them. To many times caterers either don’t care or know how to listen to customers expectations and then execute. We do by having phone consultations, questionnaires, and range of menu items all while providing the best price for them. Anybody can get in the kitchen and create great food but it takes more to turn customers into clients. It take more that just good cooking skills to make customer comfortable of consistently choose you

I’m really proud of how far we have came but mostly of being able to provide opportunities for others. It’s nothing for me to be successful but greatness comes from being able to make others around you just as great. I’m also proud that we have placed this business in situations to elevate turning customers into clients and some into family. It’s just invigorating that people know how good you and your business is and want it without hesitation.

I go to this place of business first growing up playing baseball and trying to make it professional in addition to being around my parents business. When I was younger is either baseball practice or hanging/ working at one of parents concessions stands from the age of 8 to present. So I e also been around the business and this road taught me a level of appreciation for what I accomplished but also taught me mental toughness, adaptability , understanding sacrifice and resilience even through failure but that journey prepared me for running my own business and understanding that’s there not a challenge or problem I can’t face.

The toughest challenge in the business for me is a work life balance and making sure I don’t miss out. I credit my wife for the help because she is always there to let me know when I need to either slow down or grind towards the opportunity. It took her a minute to understand what I was trying to accomplish which comes with growth between both of us but lately over the last 5 years she has stood by my side and helped when I asked or needed without saying.

The few things I want the world to know about me and my brand is from a business point of view is that always expect greatness and comfort when you ask for our services. Teri crews did an interview on Club Shay Shay and he said when he started acting that he would be in service to the actors and in life he would be in service for people”. I took that understanding to heart and always want to be in service of the customer needs first.
On a personal level, 1st- YOU MUST PUT GOD. 2nd, I want people to know is that nobody gives you an opportunity you either earn it or create it. 3rd love and being in service to others

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend was coming into town, 1st we would go to brunch at the real milk and honey in McDonough for brunch, then we would hit up either go to activate games or beat the bomb u less there’s a sports game going on. After all that find a spot to take a nap until dinner. Dinner we going to Ru San buckhead at Tower Place for sake bombs and sushi. Afterwards call the squad over and kick it at the house for game night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to first give credit to GOD and his favor on my life. Next I want to thank my wife Charity, she has been my biggest supporter and also had to deal with being the wife of business owner and the sacrifices she makes to ensure I excel. Also want give a shoutout to my parents( Dexter and ardon smalls and sister( Ashley Smalls , they gave me the foundation of being mentally tough and resilience to always keep it going. Lastly I want to thank my team, Devaun lightner , Aliyya Borders, Gloria Morgan ,Donovan Poole , Jayvone Smith, cuzzo Elan conklin and John Scott, Lisa brewer and Dorian Evans. This team is more like family and take time out of their lives to support my business
