We had the good fortune of connecting with Evie Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My husband was being deployed and I needed something to keep me occupied. I had always loved taking pictures but never thought of it as a career. After my dad had gifted me a camera I started playing around with getting to know the camera and then I enrolled into a class at a local photography school. I never intended falling in love with photography let alone start a business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I was little my dad used to always get on to me for speaking to strangers and being so friendly. I have been told that I can talk to anyone and make a person feel like they are being heard. I didn’t see how this would come in handy in the future let alone as a business owner. My goal on any shoots is not about me and what I have accomplished. It’s about being sincere and humble. With an attitude of how can I serve my clients and their families. I am serving them by telling their story. A story that will be

There have been so many people in the wedding industry that have the mindset, community over completion. We are meant to be on this earth with the mentality of Me Me Me

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is going to be hard because there is just so much to do in Atlanta and around the city. I am a foodie and I love trying new places to eat. I would wake up and start the day getting some Coffee and Pastries from Warm Waves Coffee House in Suwanee. Their overnight oats are also pretty good! I would walk around Suwanee for a bit and then head on to our adventure. I feel like everyone brings up Ponce City Market but it’s such a fun place to visit, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Piedmont Park and Georgia Aquarium are staples to visit.. There are two parks that are worth the drive to see. I had no idea Georgia has a Grand Canyon of their own, Providence Canyon State Park. I have never been but I have seen pictures and it just looks beautiful and peaceful. There are definitely several opportunities for pictures. Have you ever heard of The Rock Garden? I don’t think many people know about this place but it’s one of a kind. It’s hidden behind a church so if you aren’t careful you could easily pass it. The Little Rock Garden is a volunteer based park with 50 buildings made out of rocks, stones, pebbles, shells, broken glass, etc. The detail in these structures are amazing! Some of the structures you will see are replicas of the Notre Dam Cathedral in Paris, The Colosseum in Rome, Italy and the town of Bethelhem.

I would take an afternoon stroll through the city of Madison Georgia. I would stop by Patisserie on Main for some pastries, can you tell I enjoy eating pastries? Especially when they are fresh. We would talk around the town and visit the cute shops on the square. If you like home decor shops stop by Archambault Interiors. They have unique home decor that come from all over the world.

Let’s talk about some food. I love trying all kinds of different foods. There is an amazing Persian restaurant in Johns Creek called Persian Basket Kitchen and Bar. Their flavors in their dishes are yummy. They also have a little market next-door to the restaurant where you can purchase items. Everyone LOVES eating tacos!! There is a spot called Mr. VIcko Taqueria that sells Mexican style street tacos from outside. You place your order and they cook the tacos on an outdoor griddle. These tacos are sold out of two gas stations on certain days. It’s better to eat their tacos fresh instead of taking them home. My parents are from El Salvador so Pupusas are a must for us to eat. I love the Pupusas from Sabor Latino in Lawrenceville. Not only are their pupas good but they are so gracious with their filling inside the pupas. I feel like most places don’t make sure their pupas are filled well. They have all kids of traditional Salvadorean meals from Desyuno Tipico (Traditional Salvadorean Breakfast), Pupusas the size of a pizza, Panes de Pollo (traditional chicken sandwich), and so much more food. One more place I will mention is a Korean BBQ place off of Buford Highway, it’s called E-Gyu Revolving Sushi & Korean BBQ. They are all you can eat Korean BBQ as well as all you can eat sushi. Enough said! just go try it. I could go on and on because like I said Atlanta has so many delicious places to eat.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are SO many people that have supported me through this career. Most importantly my husband, Daniel. He honestly believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. He has always encourage me and made me see things in different perspectives. My mother for coming to this county for better opportunities and teaching me work ethics.
