Hi Nas, what do you attribute your success to?
The most pivotal element driving the success of my brand is undoubtedly the ability to forge genuine connections with individuals from diverse backgrounds. At the heart of my company lies the ethos encapsulated by our tagline, “friends hosting friends,” which serves as the cornerstone of our operations. From the outset, our mission has been to craft experiences that resonate profoundly, regardless of the investment in terms of resources, time, or effort.
Central to our approach is the unwavering commitment to hospitality, akin to welcoming guests into the sanctity of one’s own home. Every event is meticulously orchestrated, with an emphasis on every intricate detail, be it the ambient lighting, the perfect playlist, the tasteful decor, or the culinary delights on offer.
I firmly believe in the power of intentionality, infusing each aspect of our service with thoughtful consideration and care. It’s not merely about delivering a product or service; it’s about creating a holistic experience that leaves an indelible mark on our guests’ hearts and minds.

My journey in the world of experiential marketing and event curation has been a testament to resilience, determination, and the unwavering pursuit of authenticity. What sets me apart is not just my ability to create unforgettable experiences, but also my relentless commitment to challenging stereotypes and breaking down barriers, particularly those faced by Black men in the media and within the confines of societal expectations.
Navigating the complexities of these stereotypes and taboos, especially in a city like Philadelphia, has been a formidable challenge. However, it’s a challenge I’ve met head-on, working tirelessly to forge meaningful connections with restaurant owners, club venues, and the broader community. Through perseverance, dialogue, and a steadfast dedication to authenticity, we’ve been able to reshape perceptions and create spaces where everyone feels welcomed and celebrated.
Along the way, I’ve gleaned invaluable lessons that have shaped not only my professional trajectory but also my personal growth. I’ve learned the importance of staying true to oneself, of listening intently to the insights and perspectives of my team, and of exercising patience in the face of adversity. I’ve come to understand that true success often requires taking calculated risks and prioritizing the Return On Emotion (ROE) over the more traditional metrics of Return On Investment (ROI). After all, in the realm of experiential marketing, we’re not just selling a product or service—we’re selling a feeling, an emotion that’s inherently challenging to quantify.
My journey began in 2014 when I made the bold decision to leave my job at State Farm and relocate to Atlanta, where I immersed myself in the world of small business alongside a friend. However, fate had other plans, and a call from Jaime beckoned me back to Philadelphia to embark on a new venture. What started as a single party at Jerry’s Bar in Northern Liberties quickly snowballed into a thriving business, fueled by the demand for immersive, unforgettable experiences.
As I reflect on my journey, I want the world to know that my brand, The 6ix Agency, is more than just an events and lifestyle company—it’s a testament to the power of authenticity, resilience, and community. Our story is one of breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and creating spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. And while the road hasn’t always been easy, every challenge has only served to strengthen our resolve and deepen our commitment to creating experiences that resonate deeply with all who encounter them.
