We had the good fortune of connecting with Summer Ranaldson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Summer, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic and creative career due to the profound impact of performing monologues at the S.T.A.R.S. program’s annual competition, the Black-and-White Ball, in Mobile, Ala., during my formative years. The joy derived from those experiences motivated me to enroll in a filmmaking degree program, providing a platform to delve into my passions for acting and writing.

Securing a contract with Desanti Talents Agency in Chicago, IL, marks a significant achievement, offering promising opportunities in my acting career. Notably, I’ve also embraced a dual role as a real estate agent at Perks by Perk Real Estate in Atlanta, Ga., showcasing my commitment to diverse professional pursuits and highlighting my versatility.

I extend my best wishes for continued success in both filmmaking and real estate. It’s inspiring to navigate various passions and carve out distinctive paths in professional life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey in both real estate and film began concurrently in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2008 at Tri-C College. Unfortunately, as I prepared to obtain my real estate license, the market crashed due to the recession. In response, I opted for film school, graduating in 2010, and relocated to Atlanta, Ga., to pursue my passion for acting.

The challenges posed by the recession led me back to where it all started in Mobile, Ala., making it difficult to pursue acting as I had envisioned. Despite moments of discouragement, I returned to college and earned my Bachelor’s degree in arts. To continue my pursuit of acting, I would drive to New Orleans, LA, participating in background roles for various films.

Eventually, I had the opportunity to return to Atlanta, Ga., where I could blend my interests in real estate and acting. Securing my real estate license in Georgia in 2022 marked a significant milestone. Notable appearances as a featured background by Cab castings for productions like Tyler Perry’s “All the Queen Men” and CW’s “Tom Swift” allowed my presence to be seen in the Atlanta film and television scene.

Driven by a desire to showcase my talent more prominently, I committed to transition from background roles to pursuing more substantial acting opportunities. This decision was accompanied by seeking the guidance of acting coach Shiek Mahmud-Bey as I embarked on a journey to pursue more serious roles.

The resilience and determination demonstrated throughout my journey reflect my passion and commitment to both the real estate and acting industries. I continue to navigate these dynamic fields, aspiring to make a lasting impact through my talent and dedication.
