Meet Kiera Parkman | Graphic Designer & Brand Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiera Parkman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kiera, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It may sound cliche but my daughter was the ignition behind starting my own business. The only reason that Hot Girl Graphics was born was because I was clocking in to a full time job and almost had to beg for time off just to be a present parent. At the time, my daughter was in preschool and I needed to be at everything they had. Whether it was Muffins with Mommy or a graduation celebration, I needed to be there. I needed constant flexibility so my daughter knew that mommy was there no matter what the event was. So one of the many days that I clocked in in 2021, I was beyond bored and seen that somebody needed a flyer done for their lash business. Remembering that I used to make flyers for my Zeta chapter in undergrad, I reached out and said that I did and she ended up booking to my surprise. I delivered the flyer and she was in love, so that made me ecstatic. From there, I taught myself how to become updated with current design trends and how to deliver the quality of graphics that I deliver today. Once I realized that this may not be a hobby, I put my 2 weeks notice in officially. From then, I was able to fully commit to all of the events my daughter was apart of. I didn’t have to call my boss and see if somebody could cover for me. So I thank my daughter often for being the sole reason that I started my own business to be more flexible and present for her as a present.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I am most proud of within my business, is having a star product. My star product is eFlyers and I am so excited to see where my eFlyers take me. I’ve designed over 100 eFlyers and I am so proud to say that every concept is my own and each execution is fire. My design friends call me the Flyer Goat or my mom calls me the Flyer Lady. I prefer Flyer Fighter but as long as you know who I am, it doesn’t matter. The spot that I am in currently was not easy to get to. I joined the design game in 2021 and a lot of my peers were established already. So I had to prove myself that I was one of the better designers and I did. Being consistent is how I overcame my fear of getting clients, getting established, proving myself and letting the world know that Hot Girl Graphics is here to stay. Along the way I have learned that you truly have to believe in yourself before you expect others to do so. Have your confidence radiating when you walk into a room, talk about yourself or even promoting your business. Believing in yourself is free, it doesn’t cost you anything so you should be rich in it. I want the world to know that Hot Girl Graphics is here to stay and here to assist brands into becoming visually appealing to the masses in a fire way.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was in town, I would take her to Waffle House, I truly don’t discriminate on Waffle Houses as long as the cook has the hat flipped a certain way. We have to stop at JJ’s for the fried corn bits, you don’t really have to get anything else because those are delicious by themselves. We are definitely hitting up Metro Diner for anything on the menu because they have never disappointed me. My best friend is an avid Tyler Perry fan so we would definitely swing by there so she could see where her favorite shows are filmed. We can definitely go to Underground on the weekend because there is always something for us to attend. Wrapping it up with Brunch at Eleven45 with a mimosa tower and send her on her way home.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank my Lord & Savior for this creative gift that he has placed on me. I’ve always wanted to be proud of something and next to becoming a mother, this is it. A huge thank you to my daughter Jailynn who is my biggest supporter and cheerleader. A big thank you to my mom, dad & sister for being on my team and are totally okay with being paid in love. To my Pastor and my church family, who voluntold me that I would be the church’s graphic designer forever. To my clients, I love you Hotties dearly because you could’ve chose anyone but you chose me and I am so thankful.
