We had the good fortune of connecting with Troy Crossfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Troy, what do you attribute your success to?
Collaboration is indeed a crucial cornerstone of my success. The strength of a diverse and supportive team, notably comprising many remarkable Black Women, has been instrumental in our collective journey. Together, we forged our path, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and determination to craft our own narrative within the industry. We built our own table.
While we may not have initially possessed all the expertise in various domains, our resolute belief in the necessity of establishing a production company that amplifies our voices was unwavering. We were driven by the desire to provide opportunities in the artistic and creative spheres, enabling dreams to flourish within a space where diverse perspectives are celebrated.
Our success is a product of hard work, relentless dedication, and a steadfast commitment to a shared vision and strategy. Through perseverance and adherence to our meticulously crafted plan, we transformed aspirations into reality, creating opportunities and opening doors for others along the way.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As the founder and President of Crossfield House Productions (CHP), my mission has always been to highlight the stories of Black Canadians through the powerful mediums of theatre and film. Since 2016, CHP has emerged as a platform for innovative performances, consistently delivering sold-out shows that strike a chord with our audience.
My artistic repertoire spans several domains – filmmaking, producing, acting, and music. A pivotal moment in my career was securing a major songwriting publishing deal with Sony ATV and Ludacris’ DTP label, which opened doors to collaborate with artists like Kardinal Official, Natalie LaRose, and Shareefa. These experiences have profoundly shaped my approach to storytelling, enabling me to craft compelling narratives across varied formats.
What separates me from other artists is that I use my resources and talents to help others managing artists Swagger Rite, I’ve helped various artists secure record label deals. I’ve been instrumental in fostering and showcasing their artistic growth. Additionally, through my non-profit, Iron Sharpen Iron, I am deeply invested in advocating for mental health awareness, especially among Black men, reflecting my commitment to social impact.
My dedication to the arts has been acknowledged through awards such as Best Actor at the Canadian Diversity Film Festival for “Talk Film” and the Black Peoples Choice Actor Award in 2020. These honors encapsulate my passion and dedication to creating work that is not just artistically enriching but socially significant.
The journey has been enlightening, with collaboration, a positive attitude, and a self-starter mentality being key learnings. I started my journey by embracing risks and challenging conventional paths laid out for me. Importantly, I’ve learned to not let rejections define me; instead, they have been a catalyst for refinement and growth.
What I want the world to know about my brand and story is this: Crossfield House Productions is more than an artistic venture; it’s a testament to the power of perseverance, the beauty of collaborative creativity, and a steadfast commitment to telling stories that matter. Our narrative is one of breaking barriers, nurturing talent, and creating a lasting impact – both within the arts and in the wider community.

A heartfelt shout-out goes to the incredible partners at Crossfield House Productions – Sheronna Osbourne, Tisha Reid, Adeela Carter, and Tazia Harris. These remarkable women have been the driving force behind building CHP from its inception. Each of us contributed a vital piece that forms the very foundation on which our production company stands.
