Meet Asia Abrams, Ed.S | Assistant Principal, Author of Teenie Zeenie ABCs of Youth Entrepreneurship, CEO/Educational Consultant at Abrams Academics, Owner of Made with Ma’at

We had the good fortune of connecting with Asia Abrams, Ed.S and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Asia, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my career has taught me is that you can not wait on others to promote you. You have to create a space to work and develop your craft on your own. By creating your own space to develop your talents, you give yourself the opportunity to simultaneously gain experience that will fast track you to even higher positions within your career while developing your own brand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career began with a deep-seated passion for creating lifelong learners. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a dedicated classroom teacher across foundational grades, including kindergarten, first, second, third, and sixth grades. In addition to my full-time teaching roles, I’ve provided targeted support through tutoring in fourth and fifth grades. My commitment to educational excellence led me to take on significant roles, such as serving as an Alabama Reading Initiative reading coach and contributing to the largest study ever funded by the U.S. Department of Education as a Multi-Tiered System of Support coach. These experiences have enriched my understanding of effective teaching methodologies and strategies.
I now serve as an Assistant Principal in a Preparatory Academy for Career Tech. I have an Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum Instruction and Professional Development and work as an educational consultant. I’ve had the privilege of blending my expertise in curriculum design to professional career guidance. What sets me apart is my educational background and hands-on experience and data of effectively teaching children, educators, and adult learners from industry. I can teach and cultivate learners of all ages. I can customize learning experiences to fit the needs of learners of all ages. I’m well knowledged on how to collect, monitor and improve transfer to practice data and student achievement
The journey has had its challenges, particularly in balancing my many roles while being a single mother of three young children. Yet, overcoming these challenges has been a testament to my dedication to providing quality education and fostering all learners’ holistic development.
A key lesson I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability and staying current with educational trends. The field is ever-evolving, especially in the context of CTE and ECE, and being open to change has been pivotal in ensuring the relevance and effectiveness of our educational programs.
What excites me the most is the prospect of making a positive impact on students’ lives, guiding them towards fulfilling and successful careers. My goal is to empower all learners with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in their chosen professions. I do this through speaking to youth and promoting my children’s book: Teenie Zeenie ABCs of Youth Entrepreneurship.
In terms of my brand and story, I want the world to recognize my commitment to bridging the gap between education and industry. Through my writing, consulting work, and administrative role, I aim to inspire educators and students alike, fostering an environment where learning goes beyond textbooks and directly prepares individuals for their purpose in the community and workforce.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would recommend joining your local city clubs. They tend to have the best food and networking spaces.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out Kynesha Brown and the Rolling to the Polls Group. She is an amazing community leader that inspires me.
