Hi Tonaysia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I embarked on this entrepreneurial journey, the inception of my business transpired organically. In its first year, my business thrived primarily through word-of-mouth endorsements, steadily expanding my customer base. Recognizing the natural evolution of my skills, I made the conscious decision to channel them into the creation of a thriving enterprise.

Since those initial days, my vision for this brand has transformed into a mission: to foster a community of individuals dedicated to holistic self-care, encompassing not only the physical aspects but also the mental and spiritual dimensions. I plan to create a brand that offers wellness products, services, as well a safe environment for like-minded individuals to grow, learn, and heal together

What should our readers know about your business?
Body Party stands as a distinctive personal care brand, encompassing a wide array of body care products, including lotions, creams, body butters, and soaps, meticulously crafted by me. Central to our philosophy is a deep commitment to formulating products that address specific skin concerns, embracing a holistic approach to long-term body health.

Our journey has been a blend of enjoyment and challenge. Crafting unique recipes and witnessing tangible results from our products has been gratifying. However, the transition into entrepreneurship demanded that I cultivate traits such as consistency, discipline, organization, and professionalism. These attributes set business owners apart and elevate the enterprise. Overcoming these challenges remains an ongoing endeavor, yet I maintain a balance between work and self-care, recognizing the importance of setting an example for our clients by prioritizing mental well-being. Hence, we integrate yoga into our brand to promote a holistic, healthy lifestyle that nurtures the mind-body connection.

I’ve learned the transformative power of consistency and determination in propelling the business forward. Building positive relationships with peers and being committed to being a good person, has opened doors and advanced our brand.

The Body Party experience will soon be available in your town. Our vision is to expand our community, uniting individuals who share our values and promoting a healthy lifestyle for Black and Brown individuals worldwide.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my support system, a group of friends with diverse expertise including lawyers, chefs, business owners, phD graduates and great leaders. They have served as a wellspring of inspiration, challenging me to push past my boundaries and never settle for mediocrity. My father, who is also an entrepreneur and successful business owner, had always been an example for me to follow. His unwavering determination and ability to defy all odds, thereby transforming dreams into reality, have been a perpetual source of motivation.
I cannot overstate the invaluable role played by my dear friend, Kevin. Right from the inception of my business, he has been an unwavering source of encouragement, motivation, and a creative collaborator, ensuring that I remain steadfast in pursuit of my original vision.
I vividly recall the impact of Sophia Amoruso’s ‘Girl Boss’ on my entrepreneurial spirit. Her journey, single-handedly building a brand from the ground up despite facing numerous trials and knowledge gaps, ignited a fire within me. Whenever I find myself in need of a motivational spark, I turn to her book for renewed determination.
