Meet Kenya /Marsha Collins/Bohannon | Owners

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenya /Marsha Collins/Bohannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenya /Marsha, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind our success is being passionate and not afraid to try new things. Our passion for design and creativity started the business five years ago. We began hosting parties for family and friends as an outlet, which fueled our desires and dreams even more. We constantly received compliments and bookings without even having a website. We took a chance on trying different things with other businesses by hosting festivals and community events. Our brand is successful due to more bookings and social media coverage. We offer one key ingredient; our events are not tried to a theme but to the individual client. No two events are the same.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are a black-owned event planning business with a great eye for details and executing flawless designs. We focus on every detail provided by each client by listening and drafting an outline sketch of every event. We think outside the lines with new innovate ideas. Each and every design is tailored to each client. We are most proud of our accomplishments within a short period of time. We love the feedback and recommendations from our clients. The starting point was not easy. We did not know much about how to create a plan, what services to provide, how to start a business etc. All we knew was how to create spectacular events and providing joy to each family. We had to figure out pricing, social media content, branding, and more. With faith and determination, we overcame our challenges with communication and marketing consulting. We want the world to know dreams can come true with a good support system, determination, dedications, and more determination. It is so easy to quit but the reward is sometimes in the struggles. Like the old saying goes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, we would go see the Little Mermaid Live Camp exhibit. Prior to the exhibit, we would create our own Little Mermaid experience with an island theme outdoor picnic. The following day, we would eat lunch at FlavorRich in Lawrenceville. That night we would check out Frost Bistro for drinks, and music. Day three, we would visit GardenparcATL for another day filled with food and music. Day four, we would unwind at Chateau Elean with a wine tour and games. And the finale would be brunch at Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to dedicate our shoutout to our mothers. Both women gave us the courage and power to become anything and everything in life. The sky was never the limit, we needed to aim higher and achieve the impossible.
