We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtesy Davinci and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtesy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When it comes to risk, it’s something that comes down to you asking yourself.. where do you want to be in life? and how far you’re willing to go to achieve your goals/dreams?
When I think about risks it’s what comes to mind is the chance you take, you have to take a make rash decision and solely bet on your intuition, and strategize a plan for success.
Taking music career seriously was a big risk for me. I started out just in my city Erie Pennsylvania just doing local shows and freestyles at college parties. From there I started to get a buzz and hit a wall where I was just seen as local talent.
Moving forward I wanted to be heard more and get my name out there and at the time the internet was just a tool but being present in these places was better route, being that you gain culture and sense of understanding for other cities and how music is viewed from genre to genre.
Moving to Florida was probably one the biggest steps I made and one of the most effective to career. Meeting DJs and celebrity artist from working in the nightclub was stepping stone into something I would have never experienced in my own town.

You have to believe in something that no one else can see, but you. Even the odd are against you, you have to keep going.
Risk talking has played a big role in my life and career. It’s a blind feeling at first but it’s starts to come together, more and more as I focused on my music and purpose for making music. There’s was many obstacle along the way. Losing money, making money, becoming distant with friends and family was something that I had to reconcile with. It really lets you know the sacrifice you have to make when pursuing any goal. I traveled a lot when I took that first step. Going from state to state for shows, competitions, a&r meeting and even artist development seminars. So with that being said I’ve leave an abundance of different things along the way but I can say that it was beneficial to my life because “no matter where you go, there you are.”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Pittsburgh, PA. native, raised in a small town called Erie, Pennsylvania
I learned the power of words from my grandfather Curtis Naylor Sr. I would sit in the front when he would preach and would give his all up there to speak until was hoarse about the blessings and goodness of god. It stuck with me at that point that if you have something to say, say and let the world hear it. Loud and clear.
My father was a drummer and I feel as through his likeliness I got my rhythm and love for music from.
I started out opening for a few artists such as Kirko Bangz, Rico Love and winning a competition that lead me to meeting artists such as 50 cents.
I grew up in where most people don’t “make it” and I’ve lost a lot of friends to death on the way. But I ignored the critics and concentrated on my ambitions. I’m the youngest out of all of siblings, just wanted to go on this journey and chase my passion. I’m currently on that success road with my dreams coming from within the other side to meet me halfway.
With my music, I feel as though I’m able to dig into the core of ageless sounds and deliver songs that feel way ahead of their time by drawing on his own and others’ real-life experiences. I’ve grown over the years and I’ve dedicated myself to making music that connects with people from all walks of life, attempting to engineer sounds that speak directly to the souls of listeners.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Piedmont Park Downtown Atlanta
Brave Stadium
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout-out to God first and foremost but my family… they played a big part by letting me know I can achieve anything I put my mind to. My Father, Mother, Brother and two sisters. My friends and fans who keep me going with their words of encouragement to keep me striving for more! There’s also a book that want to recommend to anyone who trying to wondering we’re to start when chasing their dreams it helped bridge the gap between where I was and where I wanted to be it’s called “The alchemist” by Paulo Coelho
