How did you come up with the idea for your business?

Our community is comprised of some absolutely brilliant entrepreneurs and so we asked a few of them to tell us the story of how they came up with the ideas for their business.

Let’s get up closer and personal! I have been struggling with mental health ever since my senior year in high school. As time passed by, I went from being an extrovert to an ambivert leaning towards an introvert. I became anxious around people, I would make plans and cancel last minute, and I just wanted to be alone. The loneliness that I believed to be something normal at the time since I was maturing and people do change as they get older, was actually depression from situations I never truly healed from and would just throw under the rug. No matter where I have worked, I have always created, designed or decorated items to enhance my events. In 2016 my mom bought me a Cricut Maker for my birthday. At this time my husband, Todd Sjodin, had quit a carpentry job building houses and was working for a brilliant couple that made photo booths for events. He learned how to use Laser machines, CNC machines, Fiber laser machines and 3D Printing. Having Knowledge of these machines and what they can do was exciting. We soon realized the Cricut would not have the power to create our designs. We bought our first laser machine. Read more>>

My business idea sparked from my experience being in the field of mass communications. I always wanted to be in the entertainment industry and radio/djing helped bring it full circle. I grew to appreciate visuals more and the editing process in college at ECSU, but I never knew that audio and visual services would be what is today. Marketing requires both audio and visual services to promote a produce or service and every business needs it. Also being a dj is great because everyone lones having a good time to good music. I worked in corporate America and I was an event planner for 15 years. In 2016, my husband and 2 children were killed in an accident and that changed my life forever. My best friend/ business partner & I came up with this grand idea of starting prvttykidtv to meet more people & hear other people’s opinions & share them with the world .
