We had the good fortune of connecting with Rashonda Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rashonda, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of Purple Sheep Consulting is our uniqueness, which is reflected in our name and serves as a great conversation starter. Additionally, Purple Sheep emphasizes the transfer of knowledge, equipping clients with sustainable tools to maintain efficiency. Our commitment to authenticity and excellent service further drives the brand’s success.

What should our readers know about your business?
Coming from humble beginnings, I am proud of the road I traveled, which was not easy. As a young mother of two daughters, being a wife and working full time, I earned a Bachelor’s in human resource management with a minor in information systems and a Master’s in business administration from Temple University. I will complete my doctorate from Baylor University this winter. I worked my way from an entry-level position to my current role as Assistant Vice President for Research at Penn State and the proud founder and CEO of Purple Sheep Consulting. The lesson I learned along the way is that life is unpredictable, so focus on the things within your power to change, but do not lose your integrity and allow what happens to you to change your core foundation that make you uniquely you. Therefore, my brand is authentic, and my personality is the same in person as my social presence.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would begin with a stay at the Marriott Marquis, have dinner Canoe, and then go to the civil rights museum before going on a luxurious wine tasting. We would end our week with full massages and facials before shopping. We would also hike through the fantastic parks to see the waterfalls and man-made lakes throughout Georgia. Moreover, I would take her to my favorite restaurants throughout the week, including Gumbeux’s in Douglasville and Thai Spice in Peachtree City.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, I would not be here without the endless support of my husband, Mumea. He has allowed me to flourish into the woman I am today. I would be lost without his support and my two amazing daughters, Raniya & Sanai. In addition to my husband, I have a great group of people I call my “advisory panel.” These people have also encouraged and given me support throughout my 25 years in the field. Dr. Marianne Woods is my mentor; she saw my potential and supported me by advocating for me behind closed doors. My best friend, Albana Cejne, is my semi-low-key alter ego. She takes courage by firing me up to pursue goals I have crushed with her unyielding support. Now there is one person I am unsure if she is aware of the role she played in my career, and that is Heidi. She gave me my start in presenting, and I would not be the well-poised experienced speaker I am today without her. Many others support me in confidence that I call my tribe. We lean on and lift each other up as needed to continue along the marathon called life. I am thankful for them all.
