We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Hunter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
I believe there are so many choices when it comes to optimal health and physical fitness. There are so many misconceptions when it comes to staying healthy – more importantly preventing disease. Western and scientific medicine does not always promote preventative, functional medicine – meaning treating the body, mind and spirit all at once. Infrared energy has so many preventative benefits but the Western world has barely been introduced to it.

Infrared therapy boasts a myriad of benefits including and not limited to detoxification, weight loss, improved circulation, cellulite reduction, muscle recovery, increased calorie burn in less time, lowering blood pressure, pain relief and skin rejuvenation. Infrared energy has elimated unwanted inflammation in people with auto-immune symptoms such as Lyme, MS and Lupus.

For me personally, after intense chemotherapy from aggressive Triple Negative Breast Cancer, I was encouraged to seek out infrared energy saunas to rid myself of the poisons of the infusions. It alleviated my fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and boosted my immune system.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always been creative. I began painting in High School and went on to study Visual Communications Design at the University of Dayton. I was employed in Publishing for 15 years where I was a Creative Director overseeing design, marketing, photo shoots and editorial content. I also taught Intro to Design at a University for Interior Design classes. An art degree can bring you down many avenues!

I moved into Fashion as a Wardrobe Stylist, styling and accessorizing women for 15 years.

My art gives me a vision – leading me to open the HOTWORX studio. I can see things before they happen – I can design a room, layout a space – I am a dreamer – but I bring things to fruition.

Nothing is easy. If it were, everyone would do it. I like to say I am the kind of girl who dives off the high dive before looking down to see if there is water in the pool. Sometimes I hit the bottom head first. But it was worth the dive.

As a business owner, you have to overcome challenges every minute of the day. Risk is the difference between achieving your goals and sitting on the stands with the rest of the group.

I am proud of all of my risks – even my failures. I would not learn anything without the failures.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I usually like my friends to visit my home. I love being warm and hospitable. We designed our basement like an apartment so that we have the ability to have guests at a moment’s notice.

Then, I like to grab a hotel room or plan a night or two in the mountains or downtown. It is fun to separate from my family so I can have that precious time.

I love great food and good wine. I love to dance. If we are downtown – it is usually dinner, a concert or a club with music. I am ADHD so I like to offer a lot and move around frequently.

I love the beach and the lake, so if we are meeting somewhere – then it is sunshine and umbrella drinks with lots of shopping and outdoor fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out loudest to my husband, bestie and biggest supporter, Billy Hunter.

I also want to recognize my parents who stepped in while I was down and out with aggressive cancer at age 36. I had 2 babies at the time.

I am also so thankful to the doctors and staff at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI for opening their Naturopathic Medicine division and not being afraid to bring whole body/self care to the forefront. They were pioneers to integrate a scientific hospital with holisitic health care. Beaumont offers diet and nutritional care, homeopathy and herbal medicine.

I was first turned onto the holisitic approach during my long infusion days. The Integrative Dept was just getting started and they invited the cancer patients to try different services offered. I went on to study Reiki there, which is the study of energy.
