We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Hendrix and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
The single most important decision in regards to our success would have to be our dedication and tenacity. It’s so easy to become overwhelmed with demands of a small business. Especially if it’s bootstrapped and you have so many attainable goals in mind but are challenged to figure out how to achieve them as well. Social media was a fantastic support for us in the early stages and was our primary advertising source. In a matter of 8 months of solid installations we grew our following from around 100 to close to 500 with 5 people of staff. Slow and steady wins the race, as the old adage goes. We are still small, learning and growing but there is also great reward in those lessons. I’m grateful for that.

Also success begins to flourish when you step outside of the thought of your presence on social media and instead truly create a space that feels more inclusive, imaginative, collaborative and where philanthropy is a genuine goal.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It’s difficult for me to talk about me! I started my creative outlet designing flowers for my grandmother when she was sick and in the hospital. She was such a loving, patient person that taught me to sew, and paint abstract art but truly encouraged me to be creative. After marrying and becoming a mom, I also found a passion for interior design as well. I have a been designing homes for many years and also have worked in staging homes to sell, as well. However, I found that my passion was curating unique florals for weddings and party planning.

I moved to Georgia two years ago with a dream and a solid plan in place. I’ve made mistakes and have had days I wanted to give up but I didn’t and that makes me proud. I have also come through each challenge with a new idea, a way to overcome the challenge and always seeking out ways to improve the industry as a whole,

I can tell you that I am most excited about curating a retail space that brings forward an aesthetic that I haven’t seen anywhere. However, most importantly, I’m thrilled for the opportunity to offer that space and make it attainable to the general population. I am dedicated to seeking out ways to do so by partnering with community leaders and future corporate sponsors.

I believe I arrived at the place I am today from keeping a positive outlook. In my personal life, I have faced many challenges. In regards to that I try to keep an open mind. When someone tells me “it isn’t possible”, I keep searching for opportunities to make it possible! A “no” isn’t exactly a road block to me but rather a chance to learn and grow. Also, not comparing myself or my business to anyone else creates a sense of calm and knowing that in time and keeping your head down, you have the opportunity to succeed just as anyone else does.

What I would like for the world to know about our brand and story is that it was built on inclusivity and making people feel loved on their special day! Pop Life Social encourages our customers to invite one person you don’t know to your party. Sounds small, but what a big impact it can have in our communities. Connections and feeling welcomed are the goal. We are excited to bring that to the forefront in a new and creative way very soon.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places to eat in the city would be Marcels and definitely don’t forget to grab a good Old Fashioned while there. It’s an older established restaurant with well versed sommeliers (if you love wine) and the food that is fantastic. Also, check out Cattle Shed in Alpharetta. Their old fashioned is excellent. Ask for a smoked glass and Basil Hayden for your bourbon!

Also check out The Battery, catch a play at The Fox and a concert at Chastain Park Amphitheater. There are many options for outdoor adventures too such as Piedmont Park.

Shopping is great at The Avalon!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
100% wouldn’t have come this far without the love, encouragement and support of my family and friends! They’re scattered all over the US but are always there for me. Building me up and loving me in a way that gives me confidence to push forward even when I don’t feel like I’m gaining traction. My kids, sister, mom, cousins and friends have all loved me through the tough days and for that, I am so grateful.

The moms group, Wine Not and their creative leader, Elona Rapp, hired us for multiple installations. She is kind and supportive and for that we are appreciative.

We also greatly appreciate Discover Dunwoody and Ray Ezell for trusting us in the corporate space! We curated a large balloon installation for their event and made connections that we hope will last a lifetime.

HUGE shoutout to Lana, Jackie, Michelle, Cameron, Logan and Kristin…my amazing and mighty dream team! We got through a lot of hot Atlanta days last summer with each of them.  They were so focused and worked so very hard! Grateful for each of them!” Success isn’t possible without the help and dedication of such wonderful people. We had fun, laughed a lot and worked great together!”

Building connections/networking within your community is where success lands in a space that feels good and right. We are excited about the future of Pop Life Social and grateful for each person…moms, dads, corporate leaders, teachers and community leaders that trusted us to come into their home, or event space with our ideas. Thank you, thank you! ♥️
