Meet Dorothy Williams | Owner of Cre’A’s Love Butter LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dorothy Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dorothy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to create a product that gave an all-in-one natural luxury feel while empowering women that have given up on themselves.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
While shea butter has been around for centuries, not many know that it is dirty in its natural form. This is why we filter our raw shea butter to ensure it is clean. Being a woman-owned business, I created a product that every woman wants, a clean, lightweight body butter that locks in moisture and goes on smoothly without feeling gritty.
Being relevant will always be something worth being proud of, but having the opportunity to work with ITC to export our products outside the country will always be our proudest accomplishment.
We believe in putting feet to concrete to get the word out about any brand. Every weekend my daughter and I were excited about going to every beauty and barber shop we could to sell our body butter.
Although we could sell our products on the street, we encountered many obstacles: Covid, lack of funding, resources, and education. We overcame this by taking classes, reading books, asking our customers questions, getting a coach, watching billionaire podcasts, signing up for webinars, going to business summits, exhibiting our products, and investing every dime back into the company.
I want the world to know that because I am a woman that is a victim of molestation, rape, domestic violence, incarceration, and mental abuse, Cre’A’s Love butter LLC was made out of self-love, awareness, healing, and manifestation. Our brand thrives because our Love family feels and appreciates that love every time they dip their fingers int every jar they purchase. We are more than a brand; we are love.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My friends and I love comedy and music, so we would definitely go to a concert or improve anywhere in the Chicagoland area. Jimmy’s for a polish, Uncle Remus for chicken, Lou Malnati’s Pizza, Priscilla’s for soul food, Portillo’s for Italian beef, starved rock park to hike, downtown Chicago to shop and site see, a late night cruise on the lake, karaoke bar, catch up, and star gazing with a glass of wine.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Before my mom passed, she was my motivation; now, she is why I keep going. My husband for working 10-12 hour days and coming home to make the product another 3 hours. My children, Harriet Parker at SBDC Waubonsee College, Jean Lin at ITC, and my coach Meighan,
