We had the good fortune of connecting with Elicia Hawkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elicia, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
I love making my clients happy. I love working with the community, seeing people smile, brings out their inner natural beauty from Women, Men, and Children. I enjoy creating beautiful styles, making people feel relaxed and comfortable with good energy. Working with all cultures to bring different statements to the hair.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business represent all cultures. I loving working with the community seeing different smiles and bring out their inner natural beauty in people from Women, Men, Kids and creating beautiful styles, and making people feel relaxed and comfortable with good energy.

My journey started as a hairstylist when a very good friend of mine ask me to do her, hair I thought she was playing around I thought to myself, I don’t do hair. Then one day I gave it a try and she loved it she would call me, and ask me to do her hair all the time. I actually started to liking it. It was like a breath of fresh air like meditation to my fingers. As months went by I realized that this was it.

This was something that I love to do, and I started doing other people hair like around the neighborhood some people would ask me hey can you do my hair or they will say how much you charge to do hair in at the moment, it wasn’t about money it was just about learning a skill learned something new. At the time. I also maintain my career and still work full-time job and a part-time job. I would always do hair on the side and I will do that for years until I realize that in order for me to take my business seriously I will have to choose. I’ have to make a decision of what I want to do, and it was very, very hard because making decision between your career or you just stepping out on faith or should I just still maintain my careers.

In the process of everything I was still building clientele. I was still learning to increase my skill set meeting, new people, But I was always maintaining my career for me it wasn’t easy working two careers and doing hair on the side and I will always have my friends a big shot out to them and also some clients. They will tell me you know just step out just just leave your job and just focus on your business. Focus on your clients, but for some reason I couldn’t do that I had to find my way I had to see, if this was the right choice and I was also scared and I think that’s the most important perspective we have to understand not being scared not being fearful of things and just step out on faith.

When you have a calling and it’s something that you think about all the time is something that you dream about is something you vision. I believe that is when we need to open up our third eye and understand what the universe has to offered to us. You know sometimes we wanna do things that the world tell us to do, but not really going deep into our heart and doing what we love to do what makes us happy because when we do what we, want to do it don’t become work it becomes something we enjoy and I learned that I could have four or five jobs, but at the end of the day if it’s not something that, you love I’m not gonna be happy with it and I can tell you the honest truth that no matter how many careers I had. I proceeded with doing hair for almost over 10 years and at the end of the day, I am where I’m at now focusing on my business growing my clientele meeting new people celebrities from working with NFL players, well known artist rap artist around the city in the world meeting new celebrities, and just enjoy what I do the most making people look good keep hair growing strong repairing and creating new styles and looks.

After nine in a half yrs of working for corporate I finally step into my element and crafted what I love. At the end of the day, you know if I choose not to do hair anymore, I can pass that down by training other people, or I can also use my degrees I graduate with a bachelors of science in criminal justice/concentration administration I also have certificates that I maintain and a social work in an MCM.

But I love what I do so I will forever keep upgrading my skills for my business in honor of the passing father, that always believed in me always gave me wisdom.

This is for all my ancestors!
